Taking america down from within

From the world of hardcore activism, former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev resurfaced at the state funeral for U.S. President Ronald Reagan. and like one of the traditional Matryoshka Russian nesting dolls, no one knows where Gorbachev is going to crop up again.

Most folk know that Gorby is a mover and shaker in the underbelly of american activism. Maintaining offices in downtown Washington and in Santa Monica, California and supported by american donations, he’s the driving force behind Green Cross International, whose american counterpart is Global Green USa.

Green Cross International is perhaps best known, because its energetic head joined forces with United Nations poster boy Maurice Strong to replace the Ten Commandments with the Earth Charter. The Earth Charter, was carted across farm fields in a goat-skinned covered gilt container and sailed to Manhattan UN headquarters.

There’s a plethora of pretty faces in Gorbachev’s big pictures and a lot of useful idiots too.

Green Cross International may be harder for security authorities to tackle. Who, afterall, could take seriously a security initiative going after an agency that subscribes to replacing the Ten Commandments of Moses?

Perhaps lesser known to the american public is The Gorbachev Foundation of North america.

Self-described core mission of the GFNa is "to contribute to the strengthening and spread of democracy and economic liberalization through a program of advocacy, research and education.

What, you might ask, has Gorby and Co. done for democracy lately?

"GFNa assembles the world’s most innovative experts to clarify the myriad of issues which all nations confront, and to develop sustainable policies.

"a non-partisan organization, GFNa examines the social economic and technological forces that influence democratization."

a non-profit public charity, GFNa was established in april 1997, and is located at Northeastern University in Renaissance Park, Boston.

Since winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1990, Gorbachev has rubbed shoulders with the rich, the famous and the guilt-ridden. Pictures of a somber Gorbachev flashed worldwide via CNN at Reagan’s state funeral. No cameras showed him enjoying activities at the 80th birthday party of George Bush, the weekend after the funeral.

according to the Green Cross International website, "Many eminent and well-known personalities from the world have accepted to be members of honorary boards such as Ted Turner, Robert Redford, Jean-Michel Cousteau, Reta Levi Montalcini and Yoko Ono."

It’s ditto in spades for The Gorbachev Foundation of North america, which attracts the illuminati of academe.

alexander Likhotal, GFNa executive Vice President, followed Gorby from the Soviet Union, where he served as his chief advisor for many years. Likhotal was deputy spokesman for the President of the USSR, and has held a number of academic positions in Russia/USSR and the U.S.a. He received his Ph.D in Political Science from the Institute of International affairs in Moscow, and was chief analyst of NaTO politics in the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Likhotal also serves as vice president of Green Cross International.

Hailed as no less than "the number one scholar internationally in business and management in Russia, based on a study of publications in 12 leading academic journals from 1986-2000,’ Sheila M. Puffer is GFNa program director.

Gorbachev’s forays into the West may have started in 1983 when he headed a Soviet delegation to Canada to meet with Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and members of the Canadian House of Commons and Senate, but didn’t end in netting to GFMa The Right Honorable Kim Campbell.

Campbell has held a number of high positions in Canadian government, including those of Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Minister of Justice. a champion of women’s rights, she is active in a large number of organizations, and is currently the Chair of the Council of Women World Leaders.

In addition to teaching at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Campbell is vice president and acting president of the Gorbachev-inspired Club of Madrid.

The Club of Madrid, which boasts former U.S. President Bill Clinton as a member, held its second general assembly on Nov. 1 and 2, 2003.

according to Fernando Henrique Cardosa, former President of Brazil, President of the Club of Madrid, part of the club’s mission is "to contribute to overcoming the lack of international governance."

Meanwhile, with spokesmen from some quarters emphasizing how america faces being taken down from within, it may be interesting to note that Gorbachev has never renounced Communism.
