Hugo Chavez, United Nations

Setting the stage for evil

Bill Clinton
Bill Clinton: Now and then.

Monday, September 25, 2006

When William Shakespeare penned his immortal lines, "all the world's a stage. and all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts,"--he must have had the week of September 20, 2006 in mind.

Somewhat surrealistic events have crowded the world stage in the week past.

First came the absurd 61st session of the United Nations with the jaw dropping dramas of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez sniffing sulphur, not to be outdone by Iranian President Mahmoud ahmadinejad, who told the UN "our nukes are peaceful". ahmadinejad, who claimed to be bathed in a spiritual light on his first UN visit, came sans neon this time.

The Shakespearean UN entrances and exits of the two leaders followed closely on the heels of death threats against Pope Benedict XVI, all for citing the words of a Byzantine emperor who characterized some of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as "evil and inhuman," particularly "his command to spread by the sword the faith."

Then came the "purple with rage" photo of former President Bill Clinton who said on Fox News that Bush had not done enough to find Osama bin Laden.

Within a day of Clinton's televised tantrum, wouldn't you know it, news hit that bin Laden was dead.

Was it really any surprise that French newspapers ran with a Mark Twain-like "rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated" storyline, quoting Saudi sources that bin Laden had departed this earth?

In the space of a single week, the world became an international stage with one radical trying to outdo the other in a series of exits and entrances in the highest of dramas. Death threats were issued against the Pontiff, Chavez and ahmadinejad were competing for Turtle Bay peanut gallery Oscars, Bubba threw his hissy fit and the world's most wanted man turned up dead with no habeas corpus.

It's almost as if the drama, coalescing as it did around one week in real time, was staged.

Before Ding Dong, The Witch is Dead celebrations could get under way came Sunday's news when Saudi arabia owned up that it had no real evidence that Osama bin Laden had kicked the proverbial bucket. The "secret" document leaked in France had about as much credibility as s Dan Rather report, and it appeared that bin Laden's august 23 death by typhoid was so much speculation.

If Chavez, ahmadinejad, Pope-hating Muslim radicals and Clinton were finished with their many parts on the world stage, the mainstream media wasn't. Stories that bin Laden's death was more speculation than fact began to surface.

The mainstream media should have checked in the day before with writers Paul W. Williams and David Dastych on either Canada Free Press or the Northeast Intelligence Network.

"The French Got it all Wrong: Bin Laden alive and well in Pakistan, and busy preparing the next attack on the U.S." was the headline for their CFP cover story on Saturday, September 26.

Quoting Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir, Williams and Dastych wrote, "You can't believe all the news that's originated from Saudi sources, printed in French newspapers, and broadcast on major news outlets throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.

"That's the word from Hamid Mir, Osama bin Laden's official biographer and the only journalist to interview the elusive al Qaeda emir in the wake of 9/11."

Mir maintains that bin Laden is alive, well, and living in the lawless frontier of Pakistan.

and if he hasn't shown his craggy face since the eve of the U.S. presidential election in late 2004, it's because he's too busy plotting and planning the demise of the U.S.

Says Mir of the world's most wanted man, "The al Qaeda leader has completed his plans for an 'american Hiroshima'" a nuclear attack on major metropolitan areas throughout the U.S. and has gained the approval of some Muslim scholars to kill millions of american civilians."

The big news is not that life in a cave felled the deadly terrorist in a typhoid attack, but perhaps the strategic timing of his obit in the week of September 20.

Was the incidence of all the players being on the world stage at the same time a prelude to a sinister event coming our way in the imminent future? a cunning strategy with lots of eye candy to distract world attention?

History will tell the tale if evil soon enters stage left.
