Leadership Iraq, America

It is Hypocritical for Reid, Pelosi and Clinton to Condemn Iraqi Leaders When Congress Cannot Pass Immigration Reform or Rebuild New Orleans

Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense, releases the following and is available for comment:

Congressional leadership should be supporting and encouraging Iraqi political leaders in their struggle to build a free and democratic society.

It is hypocritical and arrogant for Majority Leader Reid, Speaker Pelosi and Senator Clinton to condemn Iraqi leaders for not moving quickly enough on the political front when Congress cannot even pass immigration reform or rebuild the City of New Orleans.

If Congress were to be given grades on meeting certain "benchmarks" for successfully governing America, they would receive mostly failing marks.

It is an insult to the Iraqi people and a slap in the face to the democratic process for Congressional leaders to demand that certain Iraqi political leaders step down that were democratically elected by the people.

I am stunned and profoundly disappointed by recent comments made by leaders in Congress concerning Iraq. This is a time that when America should be doing all within their power to stand with Iraq in their historic struggle to build a free and democratic society.

It is hypocrisy and arrogance of the highest order for Majority Leader Reid, Speaker Pelosi, and Senator Clinton to demand that democratically elected Iraqi political leaders step down when they cannot even pass immigration reform, rebuild the City of New Orleans or find meaningful solutions to the America's healthcare crisis.

With Congressional approval at 18% and massive political gridlock in Washington, D.C., perhaps it is Senator Reid, Senator Clinton, and Speaker Pelosi that should consider stepping down for the good of the American people.

The Christian Defense Coalition recently led a historic prayer delegation to Iraq and will be sponsoring several events, concerning Iraq, in Washington, D.C. the week of September 9th.
