Attacking values and heritage of rural Ontario's inhabitants

Ontario's Radical Liberal Party writes off Rural Ontario

Dalton McGuinty and the Liberal party have wasted no time in preparing the groundwork for the upcoming provincial election in October. On February 9th, the Liberal party's 2007 electoral strategy and intentions came out of the closet. In a militant press release the Liberals have attacked the values and heritage of rural Ontario's inhabitants and political leadership. The Liberal strategy is clear and its tactics are predictable of a party which lusts for political power at all cost.

Through their past actions and current press releases, the Liberals have made it clear they will pit urban voters against rural voters in hopes of winning the next election. It is a cynical strategy, but one which the Liberal Party is mastering. The radical Liberal record of destroying the rural economy and their contempt of rural Ontario speaks for itself and was a key factor which fuelled the growth of the Landowner movement in the province. The Liberal party clearly does not tolerate and is attacking the former President of the most visible organization (OLA), which has consistently and vigorously stood up and defended rural Ontario.

The Liberal's are fully aware their radical agenda of over-regulation, injustice and their socialist policies are not acceptable to the rural citizens, who favour their heritage of individual freedom and their culture of independence and justice. The rural resentment towards Dalton McGuinty and his comrades is tangible and evident everywhere and they know it. The backroom agents of the Red machine are aware of this, recognize there is no liberal support in rural ridings, and have opted instead to focus on building their support in urban centers. The strategy is evident to even the occasional observer of political affairs; Dalton McGuinty is deliberately alienating rural voters and will fear monger the urban voters into his socialist embrace, in an attempt to win an undeserved term of office.

Whether or not Dalton's strategy will work will be determined in the coming months. However, two things are certain. First, with rural Ontario united in a common purpose, the provincial Liberals will be swept from rural Ontario, just as their federal counterparts were in 2006. Secondly, the Liberal tactics of creating urban fear towards rural voters will become more frenzied as the election nears. Already, this tactic is being played out.

The Liberal propaganda machine is firing on all cynical cylinders, in hopes of demonizing the co-operation between Randy Hillier and the PC party. With McGuinty's consent, Liberal Minister George Smitherman lashed out at Randy Hillier, calling him a "radical" and a "bully." According to George Smitherman, the Progressive Conservative party should be ashamed that a man, who has repeatedly stood up for and rallied his community against injustice, is seeking the nomination for his riding of LFLA. Furthermore, Smitherman believes people with diverse opinions are dangerous and "a risk to public health" and thus not eligible to become a legislator. Rather, the Liberal Party would have citizens of Ontario believe that a self-confessed cocaine addict has better judgment and is more qualified to represent Ontario with a Minister's portfolio.

If Dalton McGuinty had the best interests of the province near to his heart, he would apologize, and discipline his party officials who have deliberately attacked both verbally and literally, the culture, economy and people of rural Ontario. However, his quest of pitting rural regions against urban centers for political gain is unlikely to be restrained and their unwarranted provocations against the hard working and decent citizens of Ontario will continue. The Liberal's will continue to play this shell game because to them Ontario's rural ridings are not worth the effort to either pursue or represent.

Rural Ontario is the backbone and provides the fuel for the province's economic engine and that is why the PC party membership has welcomed the addition of a strong rural advocate into the party.
