Michael Moore stashes evidence in the Canada he loves

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Filmmaker Michael Moore has always made like Romeo in his love for Canada.

Here in the flesh when it first looked as if the dreaded Conservatives would topple his Liberal buddies, Moore lectured average Canadians about the inherent dangers of supposed Bush-loving Conservative leader Stephen Harper.

Moore loves Canada so much, he's now made it his personal and convenient hidey-hole.

"Filmmaker Michael Moore has stashed a copy of his latest documentary in Canada because he fears the U.S. government will try to confiscate it after part of it was filmed during an unauthorized trip to Cuba." (The London Free Press, June 14, 2007).

Michael Moore"The U.S. Treasury Department is investigating Moore's trip to communist Cuba in March to film part of his documentary, Sicko, which takes a swipe at the U.S. health-care system. The film made its North American premiere in London last week at the SilverCity theatres. Most of the film's Canadian scenes were also filmed in the city. Moore has relatives in the area and his late grandfather was an Alvinston-area farmer who headed to medical school in the U.S."

But Moore's stake on Canada goes much further than London, Ontario.

A self-professor adviser to the Canadian masses, Moore has gone a long way to keep Canadians Liberal.

Michael knows what's best for us.

Let it be remembered that the flamboyant filmmaker of shock-u-mentary fame loves the Land of the Maple Leaf so much, he tried to protect us all from electing a conservative government to replace the scandal-plagued Liberal one during the 2004 federal election campaign.

"Moore, who never crossed paths with a Conservative he liked, was in Toronto last night for the Canadian premiere of his controversial film Fahrenheit 9/11, coming to a theatre near you on June 25." (Canada Free Press, June 19, 2004). "Motor Mouth Moore is angling for more than box office profits. By virtue of showing the film just three days before the June 28 Canadian federal election, he's counting on stopping Harper from ever becoming Prime Minister."

"Signaling a warning to all, Moore is predicting that if Canadians swing to the right by electing Harper as the polls and media are saying, then nothing but dire consequences will follow."

"I can't believe that you guys would think about going in that direction, when we're (emphasis added) trying to get out of that direction," Moore told Toronto Star entertainment scribe Peter Howell."

"This movie should say to Canadians, you want to join the Coalition of the Willing? Get ready to send your kids over to die for nothing, so that Bush's buddies can line their pockets."

Moore thought he had the skinny on Harper, whom he depicted as having a big pair of scissors in his hand. "He wants to snip away at your social safety net. He'd like this to be the 51st state."

Moore's crystal ball was a tad cracked. Bush was re-elected for "four more years" in November of the same year. The Liberal government lost its majority status to a minority one, and in January 2006, the Liberal minority government was replaced with a Conservative one. Nor is there much chance of Canada ever becoming the 51st state with the North American Union poised to swallow the U.S., Canada and Mexico in one fell swoop.

Like the Hollywood bad guys who stash their wads of stolen bank cash at the farm, Moore is burying his evidence in Canada.

The United States has maintained an embargo on Cuba since the 1960s, an embargo that was codified into law in 1992 and reinforced in 1996 with the Helms-Burton Act.

But Michael Moore obviously thinks he's above the law.

Hollywood's Benedict Arnold With a Video Cam knows where to stash the U.S. Treasury Department-sought evidence.

This time Moore's covert actions are downright "Sicko".
