Appeal of their message to their base: Making America great again, Stopping the gravy train
Donald Trump: The new Rob Ford

 By Arthur Weinreb Full Story

Ever since Donald Trump began surging in polls in the race for the Republican nominee for president, the Toronto media has compared his rise to that of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford. The comparison is allowing the Ford haters, of which are many in the media, to say that Trump's appeal is the same as Ford's. While some of them "get it," many have no idea what attracts ordinary people to Ford and Trump and using Trump as an excuse to take another shot at Ford who is no longer mayor.

We Are No Longer A Democracy
By Douglas V. Gibbs Full Story

Recently, in an interview with Thom Hartmann, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said regarding 2010 Citizens United decision and the 2014 McCutcheon decision, “It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or being elected president.”  Huffington Post goes on to explain that the decisions were rendered by “five Republican judges on the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Planned Parenthood, unequal justice and dark forces
 By Doug Hagmann Full Story

As an investigator and in particular, when I was working as an operational asset for the FBI in the 1990s, I was particularly good at securing covert video like that captured by the Center for Medical Progress of Planned Parenthood. In fact, I was used because I could convincingly present myself to the subjects of investigation as someone I was not, and secure the needed evidence that served as the basis for immediate raids, arrests and sometimes later, as courtroom exhibits for a jury to see.

Killing the planet is Obama's #1 goal
By A. Dru Kristenev Full Story

Having written on this president's impervious stance against carbon dioxide, the most necessary component in producing oxygen and keeping the earth green, it's redundant to say much more. However, as Obama, on Monday, installed yet another regulation to cut CO2 by 32% only one conclusion can be reached...the president is attempting to gut more than the economy, he's bent on killing life on earth.

Deconstructing the Trump phenomenon
By David L. Hunter Full Story

From the perspective of all of us “average Joes,” I think it is fair comment that virtually anyone running for U.S. president these days is, by definition, a shameless self-promoter—with something of a God-complex—or a loose screw. With the multitude of problems in the world, who would want the pressures that come to bear or that fish bowl existence?

The “Stop Iran Now” Rally in Times Square Sent a Powerful Message
 By Roger Aronoff Full Story

President Barack Obama’s disastrous deal with Iran paves the way for this totalitarian regime to attain nuclear weapons, ones which Iran’s dictators could then aim squarely at the United States, Israel, and our allies. But the complicit media repeatedly join the administration in championing the deal, which both falsely claim is the only viable alternative to war.

Dawa at Chautauqua
 By Tabitha Korol Full Story

The Chautauqua Institution, deemed an adult education center, is less education than it is indoctrination to the world of The Left. In the month of July, in an idyllic setting, the Institution invited Islamists who speak of “Love and Justice in a World of Suffering,” hiding the truths about the suffering caused by Islam—both the harsh Sharia law already in effect for its adherents and to establish it in Dar Al-Harb (House of War), the countries not yet under Sharia—until the entire world will writhe under Islamic oppression.

Obama's Energy Power Grab
By Douglas V. Gibbs Full Story

The expansion of the federal government, and more specifically the expansion of the executive branch, has been the daunting storyline of the Barack Obama administration, be it taking control of the auto industry; inserting heavy federal regulations on the banking and credit industries; hijacking the health care industry with Obamacare (and modifying the law through executive orders when legislative authorities belongs to Congress); gun control measures; seizing control of the internet through an expansive reach of the FCC; declaring its own definition of marriage through a Supreme Court judicial ruling; calling a treaty with Iran an "agreement" to avoid the constitutional mandate of Senatorial ratification; disregarding immigration law and then using executive fiat to create new amnesty-style laws; providing waivers so that the friends of the Democrats can be exempt from various laws; rewriting the Service Contract Act of 1965; or unilateral military decisions after accusing Bush of not having the constitutional authority to do so. Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO) has argued that the worst is yet to come. "These are not lawful actions. These are the power-hungry actions of a president who refuses to work with Congress."

The Banality of Evil
 By Arnold Ahlert Full Story

The “banality of evil” became part of the cultural lexicon following the publication of German-born author Hannah Arendt’s 1963 book “Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil.” The book recounted the trial of Nazi Adolph Eichmann, who was chief of operations for the Gestapo-run Department for Jewish Affairs, and responsible for the deportation of three million Jews to extermination camps. Arendt hypothesized that people who carry out such barbarous crimes may not be inherently evil, but instead fairly ordinary individuals who simply accept the premises under which they operate.

On Courts and Constitutionality in the Kentucky Resolution of 1798
 By Tim Dunkin Full Story

One of the most common complaints of constitutionalists against the conduct of our federal government is that the judiciary at all levels routinely oversteps its boundaries, intruding into those areas that are beyond its constitutional reach.  Though this is largely accepted by most Americans because of its long practice, this does not mean that what we see in Washington with respect to the judicial branch should be be tolerated or allowed to continue.  As with unconstitutional actions by the other branches of government, our Founders provided a way for violations of our founding compact to be rectified by the states when the federal government refuses to use the system of checks and balances that was built into our constitutional system.

Liberal Seattle CEO who instituted minimum salary of $70,000 finds that doesn't work so well
 By Dan Calabrese Full Story

In a way, I have to admit, I have some sympathy for Dan Price and his quixotic quest to battle "income inequality" by instituting a minimum salary of $70,000 for all employees of his company. Not for the cause itself, which is merely the latest trend in left-wing economic illiteracy, but I too once ran a business in which I thought I could do amazing things by paying people way more than their experience levels or qualifications would earn them anywhere else.

Surrender Like a Boy Scout
 By Selwyn Duke Full Story

There has been much written about the Boy Scouts of America’s recent acceptance of openly homosexual scout masters. The organization has been raked over the coals by the right and accused of offering only a half-measure by the left. But few appreciate what the BSA has actually done — and the BSA has no idea what it has done to itself.

Australian wine has fallen out of fashion
 By David White   --Life-Pets-Gardens-Food

In the late 1990s, Americans became obsessed with wines from the Land Down Under. For most of this millennium’s first decade, fruit bombs with quirky names and eye-catching labels flew off the shelves of U.S. retailers. But sales soon began free-falling. Between 2008 and 2013, the U.S. market for Australian wine declined by more than 20 percent.

CCRKBA To Congress: ‘Time To Reopen Fast & Furious Probe’
By CCRKBA   --Gun Control - Second Amendment

BELLEVUE, WA – The weekend revelation that one of the two would-be terrorist gunmen killed at a Garland, Texas attack earlier this year had purchased a handgun “through a botched federal firearm sting” is ample reason for Congress to re-open its probe of the Operation Fast and Furious scandal, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

The ‘Untouchables’
 By Ray DiLorenzo   --American Politics

In Doctor Zhivago, a glaring account of the Russian Revolution, the movie depicted the reality of ‘social justice’ as a communist or socialist would see it.  The loud knock on the door from the ‘worker’s army’ forcing the allocation of six more families to live in your house because the government decided you have too much as it is.  Your seventeen-room home is now reduced to three rooms on the second floor with a shared bathroom, of course.  Social Justice?

International Experts Warn Sri Lanka against dangerous Ambassadorial Appointments
By Guest Column--Sri Lanka Watcher   --World News

International experts have expressed dismay at the recent flurry of Sri Lankan ambassadorial appointments made on the eve of the parliamentary elections as some of these political appointees have poor ethical and human rights records.

They have warned that while these envoys are the representatives of the President, they will not have the full cooperation of the receiving states as they may not reflect the will of people which will only be gauged after the August 17th elections.

Obama’s Final Carbon Rule Combines Fake Carrots and a Big Stick
By Institute for Energy Research   --Global Warming-Energy-Environment

On Monday, the Obama administration released the final version of its so-called “Clean Power Plan” regulating carbon dioxide from existing power plants. While the president claims this regulation is “a historic step in the Obama Administration’s fight against climate change,” the rule has no effect on climate change, according to EPA’s own models. The climate benefits are so small that EPA didn’t even bother to quantify them, reducing global temperatures by just 0.018 Celsius by the year 2100. But while it fails to address climate change, the rule will raise energy prices and make life harder for millions of American families.

The Islamic Republic of Iran—State sponsor of Terrorism
 By Guest Column--Shabnam Assadollahi   --Crime-Terror-Security

The Government of Canada made the right decision to close down the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ottawa. Some Iranians living in Canada have criticized the Government’s move for the inconvenience it has caused them in receiving consular services, such as renewal of their Iranian passports. However, we must realize that Iran’s covert operations abroad pose a real threat, and that the Government of Canada has a responsibility to protect its citizens. That obligation supersedes such inconveniences.

Keeping this in mind, the Government of Canada must give special attention to investigating those who wish to come to Canada from Iran. Further to that, the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration should initiate a program to respectfully reassess some questionable individuals who are already here and their affiliations with the Iranian regime.

Planned Parenthood Video 5: Who’s up for selling ‘intact cadavers’?
 By Dan Calabrese   --American Politics

I seriously hope you’re not losing your capacity to be shocked or outraged by what’s going on in these Planned Parenthood videos. I understand some might find it frustrating that the Center for Medical Progress is drip-dripping the information in a series of 12 videos. But I can also see the strategy behind that: Every time Planned Parenthood and its defenders insist this or that is doctored, fraudulent, impossible, etc., out comes another video proving the opposite.

Radiation Hormesis Gets Another Look
 By Jack Dini   --Global Warming-Energy-Environment

In late June the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced that three petitioners, a radiation-health organization, a health physicist, and a professor of radiation oncology at the University of California, Los Angeles, asked that it amend its radiation protection standards to change the basis of those regulations from the linear-no-threshold (LNT) model to the hormesis model. The NRC explained, “The radiation hormesis model provides that exposure of the human body to low levels of ionizing radiation is beneficial and protects the human body against deleterious effects of high levels of radiation.” (1)

Shale Gas Is Big Loser In Obama’s Latest Climate Plan
By Guest Column--Dr. Benny Peiser   --Global Warming-Energy-Environment

US shale gas is the unexpected loser from President Barack Obama’s climate plan, as the White House abandons its previous enthusiasm for natural gas as a cleaner alternative to coal. Last year Mr Obama called natural gas from fracking a “bridge fuel” to smooth the transition from polluting coal to emission-free renewable energy. But the shale industry was left reeling by a sudden reversal on Monday. In its landmark plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, the Obama administration eliminated an earlier projection that natural gas would contribute much more electricity, and instead upped the role of renewables.—Barney Jopson, Financial Times[Subscription Required], 3 August 2015

After calling for investigations - Hillary releases video defending Planned Parenthood
 By Robert Laurie   --American Politics

As you know, Hillary Clinton and Planned Parenthood have a long, mutually idolatrous relationship.  Sanger is one of Clinton’s heroes, and Clinton is often lauded by the baby-crushing organization Sanger founded.  So, when Hillary Clinton labelled the Planned Parenthood undercover videos “disturbing” and called for investigations into not just PP but the entire abortion industry, I was surprised. Democrats simply do not target their favorite baby-parts supply company.

Campaign weirdness: Ted Cruz makes ‘Machine Gun Bacon’
 By Robert Laurie   --American Politics

I confess.  I don’t quite “get” what Ted Cruz is doing lately.  I understand that we’re still in the early phases of the campaign season, I’m aware that the issue-driven stuff hasn’t really heated up yet, and I’ll concede that summer months have a tendency to spawn campaign “oddities.” However, I’d like to see something a bit more substantive than the following video he made for IjReview.

Filibuster kills Planned Parenthood de-funding bill, but here’s a question
 By Dan Calabrese   --American Politics

You’ve heard by now that Democrats held together in a filibuster against the Senate bill that would have defunded Planned Parenthood. Only two Democrats - Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Joe Donnelly of Indiana - voted for cloture. Only two Republicans voted against it, and Illinois’s Mark Kirk was the only one who was really in opposition. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, as much as we are not a fan of his, did so only for procedural purposes so he would have the right to bring it up again in the future.

The Turkish Attacks in Syria: An About-Face by Ankara?
 By INSS--Gallia Lindenstrauss   --World News

The strikes by the Turkish air force in Syria, which began on July 24, 2015, along with Turkey’s intention to establish a safe zone in northwestern Syria, inspired the headline “Turkey Joins the Coalition against the Islamic State,” even though Turkey has already been a member of this coalition since it was founded in 2014.

Tom Cotton: Without releasing Iran side deal documents, Obama in violation of the law he just signed
 By Dan Calabrese   --American Politics

Rob told you earlier that the Obama Administration admits what everyone could plainly see about why the Iran nuclear deal wasn't treated as a treaty. Because the Constitution requires treaties to be ratified by the Senate, and Obama and Kerry know there's no chance of that happening with this turkey.
