Deflated balls are a problem for both the NFL and the GOP

The sports media has been in a tizzy covering the scandal known as “deflate gate.” After it was discovered that 11 of the 12 footballs used by the New England Patriots in their playoff game against the Colts were deflated, the media speculation has been intense about whether the Patriots altered the footballs to gain an advantage.

How Do We Get Back to Where We Were?

It’s hard to be a conservative when there’s little left to conserve. The increasing pace of America’s progression from free markets to a command economy has reached such a pace and become so obvious that way back in 2009 the Russian Prime Minister used his spotlight time at the World Economic Forum to warn America not to follow the socialist path.

Obama’s Executive Overreach at It Again: This Time, It’s ANWR

On Sunday, President Obama announced that he will recommend to Congress that it should designate 12 million acres in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as wilderness.[1] When briefing the press about the plan, Presidential Advisor John Podesta said that regardless of the law and Congressional action, the administration was going to manage these 12 million acres as if it had been designated as wilderness by Congress. That means that ANWR will be unavailable to resource development.

Bloomberg’s Everytown Eats Crow; Apology Not Enough

BELLEVUE, WA – Breaking news that Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety lobbying group has had to retract claims it made about some gun dealers in Vermont should have the nation questioning everything else the group has said, including claims made to influence a Washington initiative campaign last year and a current effort in Nevada, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Obama: Screw the spending limits I signed into law; let’s blow another $74 billion

Every time Republicans in Congress engage in a budget battle with Democrats, the result is the same: They end up with a long-term (usually 10 years) budget plan that presumes to introduce spending discipline in the “out years” and relies on automatic spending cuts - the dreaded sequester - if Congress can’t figure out a way to stick to the limits as time goes by.

Blood suckers

The following is a cyber communication and request for donation for a candidate I once endorsed. Please notice I said: “I once endorsed”. I no longer do that. I find politics to be reprehensible as a business and short of usury, I can think of no other business that gives so little to the consumer and demands so much more back than is fair.

Obama Administration To Advise Vatican On Climate Change Ahead Of Encyclical

The Obama administration is seeking to hitch its climate change message onto that of the ever-popular Pope Francis, whose upcoming environmental encyclical has drawn more speculation than any papal document in recent memory. The head of the Environmental Protection Agency met Friday with senior Vatican officials who helped draft the document, which is expected to be released in June or July. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy told reporters that her aim was to show how aligned President Obama and Francis are on climate change. She added: “It’s certainly not my place to dictate to the pope what he should be doing in an encyclical.”—Associated Press, 30 January 2015

Sarah Palin Is Right: Go on Offense, Tout Conservatism

Forty years ago when my Aunt Nee was the pastor of the Holy Temple Church of Truth, an east Baltimore storefront, during testimony service Sister Davis or Sister Cleary would spontaneously lead the tiny congregation in singing, “We’re Livin’ In the Last Days.” “They’re calling wrong right. They’re calling right wrong. Surely, we’re livin’ in the last days!”
