A lot of times we find ourselves depressed or frustrated by the evidence of a cultural decline in our nation. You know how angered you feel when you see actors, politicians or journalists breaking out the kneepads to ingratiate themselves to anti-American dictators and totalitarian despots. Whether they are politburo chiefs of the old Soviet Union, or those who appease the ayatollahs of Iran, the story is always the same – it's just the names of the actors that change.
But President Ronald Reagan showed us that the spirit of the heartland of America was far brighter than the cultural rot that had decayed the meccas of Hollywood, the realms of Foggy Bottom in Washington, D.C., and the journalist confines of New York City.
We can win, as we have done before, the war for the hearts and minds of Americans by refusing to be beaten down by those who are telling us that America is the problem. America is not the problem.
