In a politically driven world that gets away with pretending that criminals and terrorists don’t exist but deceitfully brands innocent gun owners as criminals, thousands of New York citizens with handgun permits have had their names and addresses outed on an interactive map—still up—on The Journal News website, LoHud.com.
The online map was published by The Journal News in an article under the headline: The gun owner next door: What you don’t know about the weapons in your neighborhood.
The Journal News seems to have no regret for outing thousands of innocent citizens as their story broke on Dec. 22, and is still listed on its LoHud.com website as a top story as of today.
“The article, in explaining the decision to publish the information, pointed to the school massacre in nearby Newtown, Conn., and the concerns of some residents about which of their neighbors might have firearms.” (Fox News, Dec. 25, 2012).
It seems that as far as The Journal News’ LoHud.com is concerned, it’s A-OK to expose the names and addresses of citizens who have gun permits, but apparently not to expose the name and address of the paper’s publisher.
“After reading the Journal-News’ courageous exposure of the home addresses of gun owners, I strolled over to the comment section and replied to another reader’s inquiry as to the home address of the publisher by supplying that information (Janet Hanson, 3 Gate House Lane, Mamaroneck NY 105643 (248-) 594-2197). Checking just now, I see that the paper deleted my response. Well isn’t that brave of them,” Christopher Fountain posted to his site, For What It’s Worth, yesterday.
ABC News Commenter George Thompson’s wish seems to have come true after he posited: “How about a map of the editorial staff and publishers of Gannett and Journal News with names and addresses of their families”, in the comment section for a story about the Journal News’ interactive map carried by ABC News.
Website Corvette Forum.com came out with “helpful hints” on tracking down employees of The Journal News.
“The office of Westchester County Clerk allows you to search land records and other public records online: (link) before going on to list everyone but the dog catcher, starting with Janet Hasson, President/Publisher of the Journal News.
Corvette Forum posted the name of News Journal Editor and VP of News, Cyndee Royle, “also known as Lambert”.
They also list names, websites, twitter and Facebook accounts, and the telephone numbers of almost all who work at the newspaper, including Breaking News Reporter Lee Higgins; freelance journalist and cycling advocate David McKay Wilson; and food editor Liz Johnson, among others.

Owned by Gannett News, The Journal News publishes suburban lifestyle magazines.
The Journal News’ Web site, LoHud.com, features daily news updates, more than 40 blogs as well as Varsity Insider, an online source for varsity sports, featuring rosters, schedules and statistic for high school teams throughout the region.
On March 7, 2010, The Journal News closed its press and outsourced its printing.
It must be galling for those outed as gun owners that while anonymity is shattered in suburbia, there’s anonymity protection for lifestyle magazines like The Journal News, which bylines many of its stories as “News” and is identified by ABC News as only “the newspaper”, as in “the newspaper stated”.
