Will the Jefferson Memorial be Taken Down?

In the past anyone who questioned whether the Jefferson Memorial might be taken down would have been dismissed as a screwball. But it is the kind of question that is being raised in this bizarre society we're living in. A CNN anchor recently questioned whether the Jefferson Memorial should continue to stand. One of her cohorts responded that it might be time to "rethink Jefferson." To understand these media types, we must remember that most were born after 1970, so they came of age during the heyday of Political Correctness. What they were taught about the United States was radically different from what previous generations were taught.
Much of what was admired about our country, especially the Founding Fathers, is now being vilified by the Leftist establishment. Washington, Jefferson, and other Founders are being labeled slave-owning racists, and attempts are under way to cleanse any memories of them. It is currently proposed that Andrew Jackson's face be removed from the twenty dollar bill, and already it has been decided that Alexander Hamilton will be removed from the ten dollar bill. Hamilton will be replaced by a female, most likely a notable representative of one of today's favored racial minorities or a renowned feminist. Conceivably, the statue of Jefferson at his Memorial in the National Mall, will be replaced with someone not tainted by the institution of slavery. To suit the sentiments of the time, we suspect that it would also be a female, also a member of a minority group. Another problem with the Jefferson Memorial is that inscriptions on its panels make frequent reference to God; a concept that is not esteemed by those fostering a multicultural society. President Obama has stated: "Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of non-believers." While it is true that our society includes members of these other faiths, and non-faiths, it is hyperbole to put them on the same level as Christianity in our country. As much as Barack Obama would like to lessen the importance of Christianity, it is folly for him to assume that today's public thinks that Christianity is no better than any other religion. Nonetheless, I would not be surprised if there were attempts to replace the Jefferson Memorial with some kind of structure containing quotations about Allah alongside those about God. There is a strange egalitarian mindset today that insists that the doctrines of all religions are equally true, and no religion is better than any other. This mindset is not bothered that the beliefs of one religion may conflict with those of another religion. Egalitarians are not concerned with logic, only with coercing their version of the ideal society.

Frenzy to cleanse America of its extreme racist past

We should also anticipate demands that the name of the Washington Monument be changed, since George Washington, the father of our country, is no longer held in esteem, but regarded as just another slave owner. To accommodate contemporary political opinions regarding the equality of all races and ethnic groups, the Washington Monument will be given a new designation. "Diversity Dome" would seem appropriate. Not only would that exclude one of our racist founders, it would encompass all groups, and exclude judgments of any group. The momentum of this frenzy to cleanse America of its extreme racist past, will probably include efforts to rename the District of Columbia, where the U.S. Capital is located. It shouldn't be named after Washington because he owned slaves. Actually, a dozen or so of our early presidents owned slaves and many others had ancestors who owned slaves, so, to be safe, DC should not be named after any U.S. president. The U.S. Capital area might be called only the District of Columbia because "Columbia" is a female, usually referred to as Lady Liberty. Unfortunately, Columbia is usually depicted as Caucasian, so that would have to be corrected, as it will lower the esteem of other ethnic groups. When we think of Barack Obama's friends and confidantes, we first think of Al Sharpton. But Louis Farrakhan is another close friend and confidante of the president. Mr. Farrakhan has now called for the removal of the American flag. Others are also calling for the elimination of our flag. This flag removal campaign aligns with efforts to denigrate our Founding Fathers. Sadly, the media, once called the Fourth Estate, has made no attempt to defend our country's heritage. Likewise, Congress is avoiding the issue, behaving in its usual weak and spineless fashion. So, radical changes to our culture will take place because those who should prevent it are doing nothing. These changes might sound extreme and far-fetched, but don't think they couldn't happen. Beginning in the late 1950s and continuing with success ever since, the Leftist establishment has nearly eliminated everything remotely reminiscent of Southern heritage. - The magnitude of changes and removals already accomplished is astounding. (Manipulative language and dubious logic are in use in the eradication of Southern heritage. The Left publicly maintains that it is only concerned with the propriety of displaying the Confederate flag on public property, yet it is seriously pressuring retailers to stop selling Confederate flags to private individuals.)

Eradication of Southern heritage

And it's not just the Confederate flag and the song "Dixie" that are being trashed. Statues have been eliminated, plaques removed, monuments taken down, forts, bridges, buildings, roads and highways have been renamed. State nicknames and state songs have been altered, state flags redesigned. There is currently a serious movement to have the novel Gone With The Wind banned. Other books and films with Southern settings have already been banned or revised. Although the eradication of Southern heritage was accomplished gradually, it was done systematically. An item is targeted for removal and a campaign carefully crafted to cause the public to perceive it as painful to minorities and highly detrimental to society, - even causing mentally troubled and drug- befuddled persons to commit crimes. The Southern symbol removal campaigns were mutually coordinated by politicians, mainstream media, TV entertainers and other celebrities, activist groups, and academia. Television and Internet abetted the campaigns by indoctrinating a large segment of the population against the symbol, to lessen complaints about its removal. The strategy used to eliminate Southern heritage will also be employed for the cultural cleansing of society at large. However, it will take something akin to a police state to effect the radical restructuring of American society that the Left seeks. But the momentum has begun, and after a substantial portion of society is "cleansed", the Leftist establishment can reallocate the nation's remaining affluence and implement the Utopian society it demands.
