Trump’s Best Ally–the Liberal Media

Many people have been surprised by Donald Trump’s domination of media election coverage. Compared to other top tier candidates, he spends little on advertising, yet he’s mentioned in almost every story on the campaign, and he has rocketed to the top of the GOP field. How is this possible? Thank the mainstream media.

It’s not that they want to help Trump. In fact, they are anxious to report on the collapse of the Trump campaign. Their assistance is unintended and profound. The reason that the MSM serves Trump so well is that the vast majority of journalists are completely out of touch with the audience they serve. Media outlets believe that Trump’s views, principles and statements are as objectionable to the electorate as they are to the liberal elites. Each time they quote, cover or summarize a new Trump statement, they believe they are damaging his campaign. On the contrary, they are just providing Trump with a microphone, an audience and a generous amount of air time. They don’t understand that a significant portion of the population is hungry for a candidate whose statements have not been focus grouped, politically corrected, consultant approved into vapid generalities. With every illegal alien, Chinese hacker and diplomatic schmuck Trump calls out, the MSM believe they’ve finally captured the quote that will sink him. Instead, audiences welcome his plain talk and clamor for more. Trump’s popularity may be a temporary dalliance with a political wild card. But he’s risen faster and lasted longer than anyone predicted only a few weeks ago. Whatever Trump is, he’s tapped into a segment of the electorate that has suffered in silence for too long, and are glad to finally have a voice in the debate.
