A disease called progressive socialism

A Cancer In The Capitol Is Killing Us

There is a rapidly growing cancer in the nation‘s capitol, a disease called progressive socialism which comes from repeated exposure to Marxism and Communism, This disease will become fatal to the American Republic in just a few short years if not treated and defeated in the next two elections. It's not too late to save America, but it will be very soon if we don't act now.

Taxpayers, how do you feel about paying for the healthcare of government employees' gay partners? Obama thinks you should. He says initiating this policy in government employment will encourage more people to seek jobs with the federal government. Isn’t that just what we need - more people on the government payroll - dependent on the taxpayers money? But then government is everything to Obama, and the private sector is nothing. What a shame that he and the people around him have never held a real job in the private sector and don't understand how it works. In discussing his support for the healthcare of gay government workers’ partners, Obama also brought up the issue of "equal rights for gays" - as though gays are being denied equal rights under the law. They are not. They have the very same rights as everyone else which includes marriage to a person of the opposite sex under the millennia old definition of "marriage." Do these people who claim that gays do not have equal rights ever consider that straight men and woman are subject to the same gender requirements under the definition of marriage? Does it come as a surprise to anyone that straight men and women are also denied same sex marriage? There is no denial of equal rights here, only an attempt to redefine what marriage means and really is. We all live by the same laws. If you call it a marriage then it must be a marriage under the definition of the word. You don't add one part banana to one part banana and call it fruit salad. It’s still just two bananas. Hillary Clinton fractured her elbow on Wednesday and was scheduled for surgery in less than 48 hours. As a primary sponsor and advocate of nationalized, government run healthcare, shouldn't Clinton have had to wait a year before surgery - just as she wants the rest of us to do? Apparently, the conditions of nationalized healthcare shouldn't apply to the royal members of Congress, government employees, or their gay partners. Those programs apply only to the commoners who pay their salaries. It makes government employment sound attractive just as Obama intends, doesn't it? The trouble is - if we all get jobs with the government, who is going to do the productive work of the nation, grow the economy, and pay the taxes to support this bloated bureaucracy? Obama doesn’t see that as a problem since his plan is apparently to have government take over all major industry and business. Can you just imagine all major American industries being run like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, or the Social Security System? Or how about the federal budget with it’s trillions of dollars of debt and unfunded commitments? How well do you suppose the new GM Obamobile is going to sell? Just like the “Smart Car,” it’s going to be the laughing stock of the roadways and put GM into deeper debt than it had before all this started. Eventually, it will have to be recalled for being unsafe to drive on American highways after the lawsuits start flooding in from all of the fatalities in crashes. The wise men who wrote the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence never intended for the federal government to grow so big that it could compete with the private sector. They knew well what they were talking about. They wanted a country run by a free and independent people who were at liberty to create and grow, be guided by their own ambitions, and not be overly restricted by a government dictating how they live and how they run their businesses. At the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia on September 18, 1787, a Mrs. Powel anxiously awaited the results. As Benjamin Franklin emerged from the long task now finished, she asked him directly: "Well Doctor, what have we got, a democracy or a monarchy?" "A republic, if you can keep it" responded Franklin. We managed to keep it for nearly 200 years, then began allowing it to slip away year after year during the 20th century. Today, a growing majority of Americans do not feel that they are being represented by their elected representatives. Party membership in both major parties is falling off as people become more and more dissatisfied with their government, and those people elected to represent them. People who have been in Congress for too many years have lost touch with their constituents and now represent only beltway politics and special interests who support their reelection campaigns. Many Americans now feel we have lost our inimitable republic to special interest socialism. Common sense dictates that special interests are not going to be giving tens of thousands, or even millions of dollars to a candidate unless they believe that the candidate is going to return the favor. And that is exactly what Washington politics has now come to. We see it every day in the Obama administration and the legislation coming out of Congress. We write and call our representatives, and sign petitions day after day telling them that we don't want this bill and we don't want that bill but they just continue to do it anyway, ignoring the people who employed and empowered them. It has reached the point that some are even becoming bold enough to suggest publicly that we are too dumb to know what we need and they are going to have to make decisions for us, regardless. In many cases they are right, but they fail to recognize that not all of us voted for Obama and other Democrat socialists. Some of us actually think for ourselves. Even massive protests are being ignored by the self righteous people we keep electing and reelecting. Have the nation wide “tea parties” made any difference in Washington? Is anyone there listening? Of course not. Politicians are all too busy writing legislation to spend more of our money, buy up the private sector, and control what they don’t buy. They tell us that the people now own AIG, General Motors, Chrysler, and many others. No we don’t. We have less control over those companies now than we had when they were stockholder owned. Obama and the politicians in Washington now own those companies that were paid for with our money and against our wishes, but we have no controlling interests in them. Now they want to create their own healthcare insurance plan with even more of our money, to compete with private insurers. This of course will, in short order, put private health insurers out of business, leaving only under-funded and inadequate government run healthcare available to the public. What’s even worse is that the plan will add more trillions of dollars to the nation’s debt at a time when this administration has already quadrupled not only the budget deficit, but the national debt as well in only 5 months. Our hard earned money that we work and sweat for means nothing to Washington politicians. Obviously, the money to be earned by future generations means nothing to them as well, as they take that too for their own indulgences. Their lack of regard for our earnings and their deaf-ear to our voices shows the degree of contempt and disrespect that today’s politicians hold for the American people. How dare we attempt to tell them how to do their job? Just who do we think we are, their bosses? America, it's time to clean house in this government and throw all of the sanctimonious tyrants out. It's time to replace every single one of them and then demand that their successors legislate term limits on both the House and the Senate, just like they do for the president. Never again should anyone be allowed to make a lifetime career of public office in Congress. The temptation for corruption is just too compelling to resist over extended periods of time. The consequences of this tradition should now be painfully obvious to anyone. Congress was never intended to be a full time career and it never should have become one. Now, instead of simply meeting to maintain the basic government functions as outlined in the Constitution, and deal with new business when necessary, Congress spends all of their time debating new ways of spending our money and writing laws to control more aspects of our lives. Usually these ideas come from congressmen who believe that they are doing something to help the American people. But is it constitutional? Is that the job of the Federal Government, or is it the job of the various states? The purpose and role of the Federal Government is clearly defined in the Constitution. Little of what Congress does today is included in that definition. The Federal Government is supposed to be to the states, something like the United Nations is to the countries. It is supposed to be a representative body focused on interstate and international affairs, with a minimal set of national laws, and guaranteed liberties applied to the states. It is not designed to be an oligarchy, which is what it has morphed into. This would be like the U.N. assuming supreme power over the various member countries and dictating laws to them. We wouldn’t allow it from the U.N., so why do we allow it from our own Federal Government? The laws passed and the authority these tyrants wield are not rooted in the Constitution, and are in direct violation of the 9th and 10th Amendments as well as Article I, Sections 8 and 9. We should have been throwing these constitutional criminals out on their ears decades ago when they first started usurping powers not granted to them by the founding documents. They must be stopped now because in another few years, they will have completely sabotaged the Constitution and rewritten the laws to protect themselves from ever being stopped. The time to act is now because if we don’t, we are going to lose our American dream. Next year is another election year for all House members and one third of the Senate. We must consider very carefully who we vote for and know what they stand for before sending them to Washington.
