During the 2008 campaign, the media and his supporters presented Barack Obama as the new Messiah, the superman who would solve all our problems to create a heaven on earth.

The sacrilegious iconography surrounding Obama, such as his head superimposed on the body of St. Martin de Porres, Obama standing with his arms extended as though crucified and wearing a crown of thorns, Obama with his profile superimposed on the presidential seal as though it were a halo, offended many. In fact, student artist David Cordero depicted him as Jesus back in April of 2007. Yet, people voted for him expecting him to lift them out of the country’s economic crisis. So when he took office in January of 2009, they saw a larger than life figure step into the White House. Some had the impression he would give them free houses, free cars, and free cell phones from his “stash.” They’d get free food and medical care and never have to work another day in their life because Obama would provide for their every need. And then reality hit. Over the next four years, gas prices skyrocketed. Under his watch, unemployment went above 10 percent. Food prices spiraled upward. Housing values plummeted. The government took over Chrysler and General Motors. He grew our national debt to $16 trillion. And during his campaign for re-election, he has not been able to defend any his record, and even in last week’s debate, he said he didn’t want to talk about where we’ve been, but where we’re going. In short, he wants to distance himself from his own record. In addition, he continues to blame his predecessor for his troubles. President Bush left office four years ago. It’s time for Obama to take responsibility for his own failures. He made some very bad decisions and instituted some very bad policies that have led us down a very dangerous path. Finally, at the debate last week, Mitt Romney trounced Obama. He had the facts and figures, a plan, and a vision. While Obama stuttered and stammered his way through 90 minutes and related only talking points and the plea to give him four more years to implement a plan that he has already tried and failed at. In short, Obama showed himself for what he truly is, a sad, little, incompetent man with a failed vision, and a greatly diminished messiah.
