“You’re all disgusting racists. My culture is not your costume.” “A person’s culture is NOT a fancy dress costume.” “Whoever you are fear Allah,” “Is this some sort of mockery to the religion?"Well, never fear, defenders of Islam. You're safe. You will no longer be terrorized by a pair of decadent western legs peeking out from beneath a cartoonish burka. Amazon has heard your complaints and the offensive costume has been removed.
“All Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who don't will be subject to action including potential removal of their account. The product in question is no longer available."Phew. I know you're relieved. But what if you really wanted to send-up religion in the sexiest way possible? What are you supposed to wear if you had your heart set on the "#" version of a religious outfit? Well, fortunately, while Islam may reject the concept of turning the other cheek, there are others that don't. According to Amazon listings, at least one faith is still fair game for the "sexy costume." Can you guess what that might be? That's right. For some reason, that last one strikes me a "less sexy" than the others. Not sure why. Anyway, all of these (plus all manner of Catholic schoolgirl outfits) are currently available on Amazon and the company has taken no action against those who sell them. It would seem that one religion is protected from this kind of stuff, while another is not. Gosh...I wonder why that might be.
