Bastille Day is NOT an American Holiday!

For all the Americans celebrating Bastille Day today, you desperately need to perform some due diligence and learn about the history of this despicable day. For one, how many of those celebrating Bastille Day know the base reason, which drove that French mob to storm the Bastille in the first place?
The driving force behind the storming of the Bastille was their displeasure at the sight of the cannons sticking out of the top of the building; a building that the public disliked the appearance of in general – ya’, that’s a great reason to form a mob, storm a government building and begin sawing off folk’s heads in the streets (with a pocket knife no less – I bet no one knows about the pocket knife episode, either; when the manager of the Bastille came out to ask how he could be of service, the mob knocked him to the gutter and a local butcher cut off his head with a pocket knife). Another point that I’d bet a fairly substantial amount of money on is this: those celebrating the storming of that building today probably have no idea how many “prisoners” were in the Bastille. Lots of folks pretend to align themselves on the side of “human freedom”, claiming Bastille Day celebrates the freeing of numerous captives who were being tortured as inmates at the Bastille. Well, if six “prisoners” (who were dining on a Chef-prepared, multi-course French lunch, including fine wine, mind you) is anyone’s idea of “numerous tortured men being held captive by the King”, well, I think you need to reconsider your parameters for reality.

A mob is a mob. Period. This country is NOT France – not yet. We are a nation of laws. We have the ability to appear before a judge, in a court of law, and to present our case against the most powerful of individuals or leaders, no matter how minor an individual we may be. We are not a nation that allows for riotous mobs, running loose in the streets, cutting off people’s heads and parading them through the streets on bayonets – regardless of the beliefs of the demonic “occupy” movement participants. And to have Americans celebrating such actions is categorically un-American. Today’s France teeters on the brink of ruin thanks to a nation of fools who have once again “stormed the Bastille”, figuratively throwing out the one man (Sarkozy) who vaguely resembled freedom through conservative capitalism and anti-Socialism. That man worked to help restore French pride by denying the dole to cradle to grave unemployment recipients (by reducing benefits to those whom refused work when it was offered to them), reached across aisles to bring together the parties (by refusing to take a position on the solidarity tax on wealth that his conservative party was adamant about abolishing), and made strides to reduce France’s massive deficit through spending cuts and an elimination of borrowing. Yet with all of his positive, conservative, bipartisan moves, the mob-like mentality of the French would not be satiated. Dis-satisfied with smaller government, the pro-Socialism mentality of the citizens would lead to the election of yet another big-government (ala Obama) Socialist (Hollande); one who (interestingly) ran on a platform of conservative financing, claiming he would not “submit to finance gone mad”. And yet, within a few months of being sworn in, this new Socialist submitted for approval a tax rate on employers so crippling as to all but guarantee the loss of nearly 500,000 jobs. Ask yourselves this, young French-men: when your King “taxes the rich”, where do those monies come from? Correct: YOUR POCKETS! America is NOT France (or Italy, or Greece, or any other country in Europe) – not yet. Let us not be so blinded by our Socialist leader that we succumb to celebrating European holidays!
