Calexit leader to Tucker: It's good that the middle class is leaving California, so we can replace them with new immigrants

Meet Shankar Singam. He's ...an interesting fellow. Singam is a leader in the apparently-not-dead Calexit movement, which hopes to see California secede from the United States and become its own nation. This would be a great development if you hope never to see another Democrat in the White House, but not so great if you love good Cabernet Sauvignon. It will also, for a whole host of reasons, never happen. Despite that fact, Singam appeared on last night's installment of the Tucker Carlson show to sing the praises of Calexit. During his segment he twitched, rolled his eyes, looked weird, and said "5th largest economy" a lot. He also admitted that he's pretty happy about California's middle class abandoning the state.
"If everyone in the middle class is leaving, that's actually a good thing. We need these spots opened up for the new wave of immigrants to come up. It's what we do."
The rest of the interview is equally odd and the incoherence eventually leads Carlson to wonder if Singam is a comedian who's decided to "punk" the host, or if he's actually serious about what he's saying.
"Dude! I've never met you, I've never heard of you. I don't know if this is a parody segment, you know, if you're punking me or if you're really high and you're just telling the truth because high people do. But you just said you're happy to be exporting the middle class in your state. I happen to think your policy makers are happy that they are leaving but the fact that you are admitting this on live TV -- bottom line, are you being serious?"
For the record, he's serious. Enjoy.
