Last week the Trump Administration announced its tax reform proposal. It's impressive and a major departure from the tax code mess we have today.
I believe it's bold and will work to boost the economy without exploding the national debt. Remember, I have been studying tax reform proposals for decades. I served on the Kemp Commission for Economic Growth and Tax Reform in the early 1990s. I'm very familiar with, and supportive of, the Flat Tax, the Fair Tax and of course my own 9-9-9 plan.
Politically, too many members of Congress have been willing to settle for incremental changes that do not solve the problem
All three of those plans would have been great for our nation, but politics and lack of leadership from the top kept them from becoming a reality.
Now we have that leadership from the top and President Trump’s tax reform proposal. I don't care that it is not one of the three mentioned above or that it does not satisfy everybody's tax reform pet peeve. It's bold, impressive and very workable.
However, it's going to need the patriotic voters to help squeeze the politics out of the way in order for it to become a reality.
Call and e-mail your representative and senators and ask them to support the Trump tax proposal. They don't need to overanalyze it, overthink it or wait for more details. That's how liberals and Democrats have killed previous good tax reform plans. They have always made “great” the enemy of “good”, and “good” the enemy of much, much better than what we have today.

We will have to be persistent to get this done. That means letting your members of Congress know how you feel at least monthly until they tell you they are on board. Beware of form letter replies. They are usually non-committal, so let them know that's not good enough.
I also encourage you to ignore the anticipated Democrat opposition to the Trump tax reform plan, and the liberal media noise against the plan. It's all part of their Trump Derangement Syndrome, which lacks a cure as of this writing.
