Canadians in Afghanistan, The Poles and their impact on North American society

I can’t tell you how proud I am of being a Canadian when reading about the lives of such heroes as every member of the Canadian Armed Forces in harm’s way, gallantly serving not only Canada but every land big or small in the free world in such hotspots as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Just finished reading a great piece about an extraordinary man by the name of Greg O’Neill, a retired police inspector from the Niagara Regional Police who took an early retirement from the force to join the Army where he is now awaiting dispatch next week to Afghanistan as a member of The Lord Strathcona Regiment. What makes this so much more amazing is that Corporal O’Neil is an astonishing 54 years old and more than twice the age of most of the brave men serving in the region. Best of luck, Corporal and God bless you and all the brave men and women in uniform.   I have to tell you how great it is to be back at work doing my columns here at the Canada Free Press. I took some time off to work on my new book, which is going beautifully. But truth be told I became quite ill for a number of months. I’m now glad to inform all that the recovery process, which has been slow, is occurring and I’m feeling better every day. I’m also training hard, body sculpting and training on the boxing bags which has been a Godsend during this time. I really missed Judi, Brian, Art, Klaus and the cast of characters that make the CFP click and make it one of the best news sources available anywhere in the world today. Now with the sucking up over, any chance of raise? And if anyone wants to see the imprint on the back of my pants of Judi’s designer shoes just forget it. Only Judes and my own dear mom really know how to strike fear into this once formidable force.   Speaking about my new book, The Poles is now more than half way finished and is shaping up to be the potentially best selling, respected piece that I have envisioned it to be from the very beginning. The book, which features Poles that have significantly impacted North American society, will feature both historical figures to modern day icons, including Martha Stewart, Pat Benatar and Chava Rosenfarb. Just finished doing a really enjoyable interview with the martial arts icon and former light heavyweight kickboxing king, Toronto born Wally Slocki. The millions of fans of MMA should bow to Slocki, who had a large prominent role in the development of kickboxing and marketing of the martial arts in North America.  This friend and training mate of the legendary Bruce Lee looks 20 years younger than his admitted age of early 60s and looks like he’s still in shape to enter the ring and cause some major damage. Great to feature this proud Polish Canadian in my new book. Just wanted to let you guys know that my  great buddy and talented artist Viktor Mitic has a new piece showing in Toronto over the next couple of weeks and it certainly should raise a few eyebrows. It's titled Screw Harper and for more information .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Until next time
