Carbon taxes in Ontario

Carbon Taxes do nothing for the people of Ontario or Canada. I would like to clarify that it is not just the Liberals who are looking to "carbon tax" Ontarians and Canadians. Patrick Brown, the new leader of the Progressive Conservative Party has stated that he will also implement a carbon tax. Same for the NDP. When Mr. Brown was pushed on this topic, his response was that it will be revenue neutral. He seems to think that people who burn any fuel for heat won't really be affected or that this has nothing to do with the price of electricity, or renewable energy projects, particularly wind. His thoughts couldn't be farther from what reality is, and one should question just where Mr. Brown is receiving his information.
You might be asking - "What has "revenue neutral" historically meant when it involves government"? According to Mark Lee, a fan of carbon taxation, from BC: "…in BC, we have perhaps the most prominent example of a revenue-neutral carbon tax, and carbon tax advocates have come to promoting the BC model to other jurisdictions, such as Ontario, who are contemplating their own carbon tax.…Revenue neutral is the idea that all carbon tax revenues must flow back out the door as other tax cuts (typically income tax) but also could be in the form of tax credits or a fixed dividend. In some cases, people do not trust that this is going to happen as promised. In BC, they would be right, as 2/3 of carbon tax revenues have been used to support corporate income tax cuts." Who will this carbon tax actually affect? Considering people generally all need to use vehicles to travel for various reasons including getting to schools, appointments, work, etc.,; people must heat/cool their homes somehow; and considering the agricultural community need "fossil fuels" to work their farm for the food we eat, this tax is explicitly created to be a burden on anyone who uses any carbon based fuel in Ontario and Canada. In conjunction with electricity prices, this tax will only increase the cost of food production, the cost of heat, and harm those who can least afford it. These are merely a few instances, but the list could be endless.

Who benefits from a carbon tax? Government is the only entity to benefit from taxation, of any kind. Does the any community think that they will receive any compensation for growing trees or growing corn, grass, hay, etc., which, through photosynthesis, exchanges carbon dioxide into its food for growth. Don't hold your breath. And what about the cheques government will issue if one applies because they just can't afford to eat and heat their homes? Wouldn't it be better if they just stopped this non-sense before it even starts so that everyone could pay less and not have to apply? The three main political parties are government, so perhaps it's time to vote for something different because they all say the same things and all merely want to tax us more. As for Ontarians they are the people who must tighten their financial belts, but then, this is not about saving the environment - this is all about "Cash and Control" and nothing else.
