It's not so bad!

Change can be good, even when you didn't seek it

Most people get into a routine in life and in business, and in their perspectives on life and business. And when those routines are disrupted, the first reaction is to view the change negatively. But disruptions are not necessarily negative. You have to stop and look for the positives, and move on based on positives and not based on the perception of negatives. We grow sometimes because of the negatives in our lives, and not just from the uninterrupted positives.
In the Atlanta radio market, my radio show was recently moved from 9-11 am to 11-12 noon. It was done based on ratings and programming research. I totally respect the business decisions, because I would have done the same thing based on the research and as a lifelong businessman. Instead of looking at this move as a negative, I asked myself what the positives are, and began to feel better about the move. I can sleep later! Although I'm not a late sleeper anyway, it's a positive. But more seriously, I now have more morning productive time for other initiatives I am working on, which my morning schedule slowed down. (Also, I will still be on in several other markets, and here on HermanCain.com, from 10 a.m. to noon.) But this programming change caused me to understand better the challenges President Trump is facing with Congress in trying to make bold changes to help the people of this country. The swamp in Washington, D.C. does not welcome change and will naturally resist it. I can change my perspectives on changes that affect me, but it's a lot harder for a collective 535 members of Congress to focus on the positives of a bold-action president. The good news is that this president is not of the swamp and he is continuing to press forward despite the resistance.

Although there are many bold changes the president is proposing, let's just consider the latest – tax cuts and simplification. I don't call it tax reform because that's swamp code for "we will make incremental changes to the tax code to give the people some crumbs, and then claim political victory on both sides." We the People are sick of incremental political crap! Let's solve something for a change, and dramatically change the tax code with big cuts and simplification. That would be a great start! The president's proposal would do just that. But the anti-change, anti-Trump swamp attitudes will resist the bold changes until they can achieve incremental crumb changes for the people. But we can change that paradigm! Call and e-mail your members of Congress and ask them to support the president's tax cut and simplification proposal. Call and e-mail them at least once a week. The attacks and criticisms of the proposal are the usual liberal attacks, and they are all deceptive and have no legitimate basis within the total context of the president's proposal.

The attackers will pick and choose an aspect of the proposal, and then nitpick it to death to discourage members of Congress from supporting the president's proposal. Some members of Congress are also looking for one nitpicking reason to vote against the changes, so they can show their blood-sucking supporters (not all supporters are blood suckers) that they are "fighting for them". Right! That's what they do to resist change! Dramatically changing the tax code is a great thing for the nation! It's not great for the political swamp. Let's not allow Congress to stop the changes this time with incrementalism, deception and lies. Let them know we are paying attention!
