Your wife will still drag you there, and now you're completely screwed.

Civilization ends: Those meatballs at Ikea have horse meat in them

I must admit: I have never had the pleasure. I've never set foot in an Ikea. I'm not sure if my wife has either. She's certainly not a devotee, but if she's paid a visit, she did not drag me along. This is the sort of thing that has us going on 16 years of wedded bliss.

But Rob explains many things to me, and he tells me that one of the things that makes Ikea bearable for the dragged-along husband is the Swedish meatballs, which I guess are quite choice. It's a deal you can live with. Your wife browses and spends the family's money. You sit around and pop meatball after meatball. Could be worse, right? Uh oh:
Swedish furniture giant Ikea was drawn into Europe's widening food labeling scandal Monday as authorities said they had detected horse meat in frozen meatballs labeled as beef and pork and sold in 13 countries. The Czech State Veterinary Administration said that horse meat was found in one-kilogram packs of frozen meatballs made in Sweden and shipped to the Czech Republic for sale in Ikea stores there. A total of 1,675 pounds of the meatballs were stopped from reaching the shelves. Ikea spokeswoman Ylva Magnusson said meatballs from the same batch had gone out to Slovakia, Hungary, France, Britain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Ireland. Magnusson said meatballs from that batch were taken off the shelves in Ikea stores in all those countries. Other shipments of meatballs were not affected, she added.
Yeah, well, not that they'll admit anyway. So what now? Can you stand to look at that ugly-but-trendy thing your wife hauled home, knowing that you were sitting there the whole time tearing into Secretariat? And the next time she wants to take you, can you muster up the courage to say . . . naaaaaaay?
