Corruption of MLK’s legacy

Corruption of MLK’s legacy First of all, what is NAACP doing sponsoring a division to address the non-existent concept of environmental and climate justice? Before I go any deeper, it’s important to point out that the environment (earth, its elements and inhabitants) and climate (the atmosphere) are not sentient beings that crave justice from one another, the universe or man. They are components of Creation of which each of the aforementioned are interconnected not adversarial. For reasoning that counters logic, the civil rights movement that Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. led has been turned on its ear by lumping inanimate objects like stone, as in geologic formations, vegetation, animate creatures and weather together with man as being mistreated by man. Never did Dr. King interchange the natural world and man, made in God’s image, as equivalents. Nor did he equate justice for man among men with the elements of the world.
It is nothing less than a disgrace for the NAACP to assume that mankind has any sway over the atmosphere and attempt to infer such an irrational concept as coming from a man who served God first and foremost. It was Dr. King’s belief in the Word that framed his teaching on man recognizing the worth of other men. It was his faith in the Word that gave him understanding that man has no control over the heavenly bodies God set in motion which govern the cycles of life on earth. It was his acceptance of the Word that convinced him that man hasn’t the power to destroy the earth as God said, “world without end,” Isaiah 45:17, Ephesians 3:21. It’s important beyond measure to remember that Dr. King was a Christian pastor upon whose teachings of Jesus Christ he based his message of freedom and equality. When asked what are the commandments of God, Jesus gave two that included all the ten commandments within their context: Mark 12:30 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” Dr. King never elevated nature to equate with man’s consideration of one another, nor would he agree with the debasing of his message to do so. He preached God’s Word and His command to love one another as yourself, to treat all as you would treat the Lord Himself, feeding Him if He were hungry, clothing Him if He were naked and offering kindness if He were a stranger (Matthew 25:24-40). The idea promoted by twisted civil rights advocates that man can change the atmosphere or the underpinnings of the earth to create disadvantages for certain populations is absurd and wholly unscriptural. On this basis alone would Dr. King reject the premise and the folly of its proponents. As one of the many thousands who had the honor of meeting Dr. King during my life’s sojourn, I pray that his regard for history be remembered in the context in which he spoke the term more than once – as “His Story…” the story of Christ.
