Don’t Jump To Conclusions Over A Senseless Act

With the tragedy that took place in Arizona of the shooting of Congresswomen Giffords we are starting to hear the call for a tamping down of political debate. That is the last thing that needs to occur and cannot be a premise to institute forced institutionalized censorship of events and issues that are widely disagreeable to the public.

We do need to be restraint in jumping to conclusions that we see all over the internet to blame one movement or one person in particular to leading to this occurrence. As I was looking at all of the debate that was going on following this event, I was noticing a trend that is very alarming with people trying to equate this individuals actions with a statement made by Sarah Palin to target political opponents to be removed from office. The "hit list" that she spoke of is not a hit list to take someone out physically in the manner that occurred in Arizona and those that are trying to use this as a premise to end political debate are just about as crazy as the person who did the shooting. Over the last three years everything from the race card to calling those that disagree with this administration and the last congress as terrorists have been attempted to try and silence political dissent to the policies that have occurred with this administration.

The Left has attempted to paint a false picture of the Tea Party movement time and again and have failed at every turn

The Left has attempted to paint a false picture of the Tea Party movement time and again and have failed at every turn. When they were accused of spitting on representatives walking to the final vote on Health Care it was never proved to occur, but you had those on the Left that tried to paint it as racism once again attempting to gin up further division. It is real alarming that people have such short attention spans that they forget all of the effigies of President Bush that were hung at demonstrations and all of the rhetoric from the left in regards to his presidency. During the eight years of President Bush's administration many people would say things like they wished for his death and the death of Vice President Cheney. This did not only occur from people on the street but was a common mantra in many of the Left leaning blogs and organizations. During that time no one was calling for the silencing of their voices of political dissent, they might of disagreed with the verbiage, but they were not calling for an elimination of their rights to express their dissent.

It is forgotten that in our history, and in the history of any nation, that political debate is essential to balancing out differences of opinions. It is not too hard to understand that some individuals may take things to extremes and act on those extremes. At no time should it be allowed that the actions of an individual or group equates to the motives of all who have differing opinions. If we wanted to go down that road both sides of the political debate are not innocent in the way that some can interpret verbiage used. We have those on the Left right now calling for violence in the streets from; Frances Fox Piven to President Obama's former "Green Czar" Van Jones. What they are calling for is a far cry from a "hit list" to unseat through the ballot box politicians that currently hold office. Some can even say what they are calling for is civil unrest, but the media is not showing this to the public as they spin what is clearly terms that both sides use when they speak about unseating political opponents. The shooting that occurred in Arizona is a tragedy that did not need to occur! Neither side of the political debate would endorse such behavior and it should be remembered that actions such as this can and will be a pretense to further tighten restraints on freedoms. We already see these calls by many to use this tragedy to further their political agenda circling around like a flock of vultures to not let a crisis go unexploited! As we reflect upon the this event we need to act as adults and realize that disturbed individuals come from all walks of life and believe in many things. To jump to conclusions without knowing the full motives for someone to act in such a heinous way only shows insecurities about one's self. To play to those insecurities and run for the "safety" that is perceived by handing over the right of free expression and dissent will only in the long run allow for the slow erosion of individual freedoms and liberties. This has been shown throughout history to occur and just because one or more individuals decided that they were not stable enough to coexist with those they disagree with and acted in a cowardly way. It does not mean that everyone that disagrees, no matter what side you may fall on, would act in the same manner. In closing I would like to express my deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones yesterday, and to those who were innocent victims of a very disturbed individual. My prayers along with those of millions of Americans go out to the victims of this senseless act.
