Maurice Strong, Al Gore

Environmentalists remain silent on oil-rich climate change gurus

Former US vice president Al Gore, who sold out to the same Arab oil he made an environmental career out of pretending to fight, may hold first place as the world’s number one environmental snake oil salesman. But his one-time partner in the largely bogus Chicago Climate Exchange, Maurice Strong is a close runner up.

Less than a year ago, this long-time ‘Father of the Environment’ and secretary-general of 1992’s first global Earth Summit, was loudly touting China as world leader in tackling climate change. Back then China, which Strong said was going to be seen in Rio’s upcoming 20th anniversary, as “amongst the most progressive and responsible countries” was leaving Strong’s native Canada far behind in the dust as the world’s best role model for controlling greenhouse gases. China, where toxic smog is canceling flights and shutting down factories, is today literally choking on dust. “For the fourth time this year, a murky haze has descended over north China, leaving residents of Beijing choking on toxic smog. China’s air hasn’t been this bad since 1953, according to the state-run People’s Daily newspaper. “Visibility is reduced to 100 yards in downtown Beijing. Travel has been disrupted with more than 100 flights cancelled, at a time when millions start the journey home for Chinese New Year.(People’s Daily, Jan. 20, 2013). “The air is so bad that wealthy Chinese entrepreneur, Chen Guangbiao, is selling fresh air in soft drink cans, similar to bottled drinking water. Each can is sold for 5RMB or about 80 cents. Chen is well known for his charitable donations and publicity stunts. He says he wants to stimulate awareness of environmental protection among government officials and citizens by selling the canned fresh air.” Without the charitable donations, you’d think Chen has been taking lessons from Al Gore and Maurice Strong. The world’s two top environmental entrepreneurs sold North Americans a bill of goods and got rich while they were at it. Beijing residents, too savvy to believe that fresh air comes in a can, have made masks the new fashion on Beijing streets. Lucky for Strong they don’t know that Beijing became his home city during the investigation into the UN oil-for-food scandal. By mid-morning yesterday, a text from the government was sent to millions of cell phones warning residents to stay indoors. Beijing environmental authorities temporarily shut down 103 high-emission factories on Tuesday and ordered 30 percent of government cars off the roads. An effective way to call the attention of Beijingers to the evils of so-called global warming/ climate change? Gore and Strong, the top two hucksters behind the false alarm of man-made global warming, are both environmentalists who used saving the environment to reach multi-millionaire-status. While Gore sold out to Arab oil, Strong, who got his start in oil, sold out to Communist China where he’s been working feverishly to replace the USA with China as world superpower. Though it is largely unknown, Strong is second only to President Barack Obama in the planned destruction of America. The long road to bogus climate change, which environmentalists now say is “a factor in Chicago’s murder rate” () leads all the way back to Chicago. Strong was on the board of directors of the now defunct Chicago Climate Exchange, Wikipedia-described as “the world’s first and North America’s only legally binding gas emission registry reduction system for emission sources and offset projects in North America and Brazil.” Before the Chicago Climate Exchange went off radar, Gore was buying carbon set-offs from himself--the Generation Investment Management LLP, “an independent private owner-managed partnership established in 2004 with offices in London and Washington, D.C.” of which he was both chairman and founding partner. The slick way the global warming gurus made it to the top of the heap was least discussed by leading radical environmentalists of the day, with Greenpeace, the world’s largest environmental organization remaining silent to this day. “Strong is up to his eyeballs in Molten Metal Technology, a busted handler of hazardous waste notorious for its flaky technology and ties to presidential hopeful Al Gore (FORBES, Jan. 22, 1996 and Apr. 21, 1997). A big contributor to Gore’s campaigns, Molten Metals has surfaced in the Senate hearings on corrupt campaign financing. “A member of Molten’s board, Strong sold some shares at around $31 apiece a month prior to the stock’s October 1996 collapse.” The same year as he was shilling sustainability at 1992’s game-changing Earth Summit, Strong became chairman of Ontario Hydro--North America’s largest utility. Before leading the Free World down the road of sustainability, he recommended that Hydro buy a 31,000-acre Costa Rican rain forest. By happenstance he owned a hotel that catered to ecotourists in the same country. The rain forest, criticized even by the leftwing media, came to naught, but the UN University for Peace of which he was President of the Council from 1999 to 2007, is still graduating peace seekers from Costa Rica. The Save the Environment world is ridden with scammers making it rich on the naivete of climate change advocates. In the private sector crooks like Bernie Madoff, rightfully go to jail when their ponzi schemes come tumbling down while former vice presidents and UN diplomats selling climate change alarmism, only get rich.
