Facebook Repression of free Speech

Employees at Facebook want to remove Trump posts under the rubric of hate speech, yet Jew hatred is permitted. These are the people who decide for all of us on Facebook what is and is not acceptable speech. I fear for the next generation. Raised on social media these people have given power to one man, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook fame, who has power over all speech all over the world. We are guilty of allowing this. We are guilty because we did not make room for competition. This is Mark Zuckerberg.
He started this great idea of bringing people together online. Facebook was originally designed to bring people together at Harvard and over time grew to bring people from all over the world together in one agora-one place to share views and ideas. As sweet and sensitive as Zuckerberg appears, he is no pushover. He’s a cut throat business man. And he seems to enjoy power. Why not? He wears it well. He has acquired so much power that leaders of nations come to him to aid them in controlling free speech. They come to him. Angela Merkel turned to him to help her stop anti-immigrant posts (code for anti-Islam). She had found posts on Facebook that were offensive to her. And Zuckerberg, the arbiter of acceptable speech was there to assist because he has determined that negative talk about Islam is not acceptable. That only “extremists” (would that be racist, xenophobic fearmongering Islamophobes?) participate in these discussions.
“(W)e all need to reject — a group of extremists trying to silence the voices and opinions of everyone else around the world. I won’t let that happen on Facebook. I’m committed to building a service where you can speak freely without fear of violence.”
If he is so concerned about hateful speech why has he not stopped the vicious anti-semitism online that has led to attacks on Jews around the world?

“Facebook knowingly, willfully enables Palestinian users to egregiously violate its ethical policies — specifically, in the context of inciting, glorifying and justifying terrorism against Jews.” And: ”Although Facebook occasionally takes down specific posts by Palestinian terrorism supporters, presumably due to complaints from other users, it has left their accounts active, in some cases for years, thus enabling them to continue posting such materials. One of these users is reportedly notorious for posting anti-Semitic “snuff” (murder) films — yet Facebook has allowed it to be active for more than five years.” On his official Facebook page, Dec 2014, Mark Zuckerberg declared his love and support for the 1.4 billion followers of the Prophet Mohammad around the word with this official statement: “I want to add my voice in support of Muslims in our community and around the world…. If you’re a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you.” He takes this stand despite the fact that Muslim leaders the world over have stated, over and over again, that Islam is not compatible with the West. “Islam not just as a religion but a social and political system in which the state is intended to be inseparable from religious rule. Sharia by its nature is not designed to coexist with or be subordinate to other legal systems”https://www.clarionproject.org/news/french-reporter-attacked-islamists-while-shooting-show So what rights is he protecting? Whose rights?

We have given our right to free speech over to one man. Our free speech is under attack by Mark Zuckerberg and his minions at Facebook. He oversees those who are in charge of community standards. What are those standards? Who made those standards? What is their background? Where do they live? What are their values? And Facebook is no longer a neutral place to share ideas. Disagreeing with Zuckerberg leads to being blocked from posting. This is what happened to me. You may also be a member of a select group of people who find their posting privileges suspended without warning quite frequently. It goes like this: You find an article you like, maybe something exposing the Obama government’s support for Islamic terrorists, you grab the link and post it to your Facebook page and a handful of groups in which you are a member. People start engaging with your post, information is being spread, everything is good. A few hours later, you come back from lunch and attempt to post again. But this time, a little box pops up and says this:
You’re temporarily restricted from joining and posting to groups until Tuesday at 4:22pm.”
Mind you, it is so kind of Facebook to care about me and the memories I share from one year ago. And there’s nothing like a “good Morning”-as if I were in a relationship with a person. Zuckerberg may have started out with a benign public forum but it is well known the road to perdition is paved with good intentions. The Facebook ideal has been transformed into a system that is run by one man who controls free speech today. This is fascism. I understand Pamela Geller is trying to sue Facebook. Count me in.
