“Mischievous” Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz should climb down off her CNN/Hollywood-provided soapbox. And if she won’t climb down, should be voted out of office at the very first opportunity

‘Fake News’ Mayor Carmen Cruz weighs in from Puerto Rico

There’s this one dirty little secret that San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, aided and abetted by CNN, is squatting on: Even though Puerto Rico was 73 BILLION dollars in debt, its truck drivers went on strike—before Hurricane Maria hit. But even in the midst of the devastation, of the kind that Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, the Department of Defense’s primary military liaison with FEMA described as the worst he’s seen in his lifetime, Her Worship Mayor Cruz is going out of her way to make it a political issue. Pointing out the Cruz lie, Resident Commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez, Puerto Rico’s non-voting congressional representative stresses the point that President Trump’s response is a welcome change from previous administrations saying... “This is the first time we get this type of federal coordination.” The Military response has been substantial as noted by a Reuters' story 'Relief efforts in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.'
  • There are about 4,500 U.S. troops on the ground in Puerto Rico, including active duty and national guard. An additional 1,400 National Guard members are expected to arrive in Puerto Rico in four days.
  • Forty-three FEMA officials, teams of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and more than 1,600 National Guard members had sheltered in place during the storm.
  • The U.S. military has the USS Kearsarge and Oak Hill, amphibious assault ships, assisting in relief efforts. The USS Wasp, which has completed relief efforts off the coast of Dominica, will soon be joining them.
  • The USNS Comfort, a hospital ship, is en route to Puerto Rico. The Comfort is equipped to carry up to 1,000 hospital beds, 12 operating room and one of America’s largest trauma units.
  • Fifty-two tilt/rotary-wing aircraft are taking part in efforts, according to the Pentagon.
  • A Defense Logistics Agency shipment of 100 trucks with diesel and fuel will arrive in next few days.
  • The Defense Logistics Agency is preparing to distribute potentially 160 million meals in 30 days.
  • By Friday, 15,000 gallons of propane were expected to arrive in Puerto Rico.
  • On Thursday, a C-5C aircraft landed with a generator to help radar approach operations, the Pentagon said.
Truckers are leaving emergency supplies undelivered rather than distribute them to desperate survivors. (NPR, Sept. 28, 2017) “It's an island and ports were damaged and roads were impassable. The ships were waiting to dock to deliver the supplies. Trump didn't delay his response, they had to repair damage before the ships could dock. Now, there are tons and tons of supplies there but the local truck drivers aren't showing up to drive the trucks. Even if they did, I heard more than half the roads are damaged. So now they are airlifting in supplies to inaccessible areas. What more can Trump do?” Rueben Torres wrote in an email to Canada Free Press.

"Puerto Rico’s main port opened Saturday allowing 11 ships stocked full of federal aid to dock. The ships delivered 23,000 cots, 1.6 million gallons of water, food, and generators. Many more ships are scheduled to arrive over the next few days. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials arrived with the ships and brought satellite phones to all of the island’s towns and cities. (Guardian)
“Still, the media keeps pushing the narrative that the federal government, and Trump, are ignoring Puerto Rico because he hates Hispanics. In other words, FAKE NEWS !!!!!!! How long are people going to keep falling for the same old lies? When are you going to realize you are being manipulated (willingly) so as to purposely divide the country? I have to say this. If you get your news from CNN you are a f#%king moron!! WAKE UP!!!” says Torres.
“Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello praised President Trump for his rapid response to Hurricane Maria, adding that the American island is still struggling to recover from “the biggest catastrophe in modern history for Puerto Rico.(Guardian, Sept. 24, 2017) “Gov. Rossello and other officials lauded President Trump and the Federal government for having a comprehensive relief plan in place before the storm hit.”
Heart-rending cries for help from the good people of Puerto Rico continue, but Mayor Cruz is answering them with a political push that makes feminism her first priority. Instead of using her island soapbox to help them, Cruz has set off a raging brush fire among progressive left supporting celebrities.

“Among the countless critics were Hollywood celebrities who accused him of being heartless:  Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lopez and Star Trek's George Takei are among those to have defended the devastated island of US citizens. (Daily Mail, Sept. 30, 2017)
“Lady Gaga also took to social media to blast the former reality TV star, writing: 'Oh I see @realDonaldTrump you're not helping PR because of the electoral votes u need to be re-elected #Florida=29 #Texas=38 #PuertoRico=0' “
Isn’t this the same Lady Gaga who claimed she was brought down by Fibromyalgia courtesy of a mysterious stranger who promised her riches and fame? Introduced in the lede of the Daily Mail story as “San Juan’s fearless mayor”, Cruz took her spat with President Donald Trump public on CNN, Saturday. “San Juan’s fearless” said the president’s insulting tweets against her were “merely an attempt to distract the public from what she considers to be the government's sub-par response to the disaster in Puerto Rico.
“Speaking to Anderson Cooper on Saturday, Cruz dismissed his accusation mischievously, saying: 'Maybe he's used to women who need to be told what to do but that's not what we are here in San Juan.’ (Daily Mail)
Surely the aftermath of the devastation of the island’s worst hurricane in modern history is no time to play “mischievous”.
“Cruz, a relatively unknown politician who has been the city's mayor since 2013, dominated headlines on Friday after pleading with the president in an emotional appearance on CNN: 'Mr Trump, I am begging you - we are dying.’ (Daily Mail) “Since Maria hit earlier this month, the island has had most of its power wiped out.  "Supplies are now coming in thick and fast from charities and from the government but a desperate lack of drivers and logistics on the ground mean that they are not being distributed fast enough.”
A picture showing Cruz wading through waist deep water to speak with residents in flooded neighborhoods of San Juan, brought in the anti-Trump celebrity sharks. By Saturday afternoon, stars were condemning Trump's “attack” on the Puerto Rican mayor in a unanimous fashion.

“As an unincorporated territory of the United States, Puerto Ricans are by law natural-born US citizens but cannot vote in elections. (Daily Mail) “Trump continued congratulating the National Guardsmen for their work on Saturday And Jennifer Lopez weighed into the debate. “The Shades of Blue actress posted a photo contrasting Carmen Yulín Cruz wading through waist deep flood water in Puerto Rico with Trump casually tossing a golf ball during one of his frequent golf trips. “J-Lo captioned the photo 'Photos were taken five minutes apart. Couldn't make this up folks. #shameful.'  “Star Trek actor George Takei picked up on the same contrast between the San Juan Mayor's rescue efforts and Trump's apparent lack thereof. “The LGBTI activist posted the same pic of Carmen Yulín Cruz shaking a Puerto Rican resident's hand while wading through water, contrasting the image with Trump's own tweets criticizing the San Juan mayor.  “Takei captioned the image:  'The irony of Trump golfing and tweeting—saying the mayor of San Juan wants “everything to be done for them”—it’s [as] thick as his skull.’ “Not every celebrity message took direct aim at Trump, however. Ellen Degeneres tweeted a statement of support for the beleaguered Puerto Rican politician. "It simply read: '@CarmenYulinCruz I see you, I hear you, I love you. You're a hero.' “

Meanwhile dangers to Hurricane Maria’s survivors in Puerto Rico continue.
“On the San Lorenzo River in Morovis, residents are being forced to traverse the river themselves on foot and in cars. A bridge which once stood there was eviscerated by the hurricane. (Daily Mail) “People are using a rope wire to get across the river. There is still no power in large parts of the island and the health system is beginning to buckle under the strain.  “Patients had to be evacuated from the San Francisco Hospital in Rio Piedras, San Juan, on Saturday after the failure of a medical plant.   “Gas stations are running out of fuel and there are dwindling supplies of food and water all over the island.”
In natural disaster tragedies like Hurricane Maria, the first responders are always the unsung heroes. The progressive left, counting on help from their fawning celebrities, use human tragedy to enshrine heroes of their own. Problem is their heroine of the moment is all wet. “Mischievous” Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz should climb down off her CNN/Hollywood-provided soapbox. And if she won’t climb down, should be voted out of office at the very first opportunity.
