Firearms owners FIRE BACK against Toronto Mayor David Miller

In an unprecedented move, Canadian firearms owners have fired the next salvo in Toronto Mayor David Miller’s vicious war of extermination against Canada’s trustworthy firearms owners. On May 26th, Mayor Miller announced he would push forward a resolution to ban sport shooting clubs and businesses from the City of Toronto.

Canadian Institute for Legislative Action (CILA) Executive Director Tony Bernardo stated, “If war is what David Miller wants, war is what he’ll get. But he needs to remember, there is one of him and two million of us”. He added, “Mayor Miller has been slandering us for years, calling us “so-called law abiding gun owners” and accusing sport shooters of “fuelling Toronto’s drug and gang problems”. “Miller is lying to the people of Toronto because he lacks the courage to deal with Toronto’s real crime problems” Miller recently stepped up the rhetoric after the tragic shooting of John O’Keefe by a man that legally owned the firearm. This was such a rare occurrence that it made front-page headlines in Toronto for three consecutive days. CSSA Executive Director Larry Whitmore said, “Mr. O’Keefe’s death was a tragic anomaly. It is unfortunate that Mayor Miller has chosen to persecute and slander two million Canadians for the criminal actions of a single individual”. “Miller’s misguided attacks on ordinary, decent people have earned him the wrath of the most lawful segment of Canadian society”. Miller announced he would close the Scarborough Rifle Club, used by juniors, national and international athletes to hone shooting skills, and the CNRA Handgun Club, a training range for Olympic Competitor Avianna Chao to train for the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games. “Having Miller equate these upstanding Canadians with drug dealing hoodlums is degrading and insulting. Firearms owners intend to hit the City of Toronto where it hurts, right in the wallet”, Bernardo said. He added, “We have sent this website to our international partners and combined, they represent almost 200 million people. We have taken ads in U.S. firearms related publications to inform 80 million American gun owners that they are NOT WELCOME in Toronto and to encourage them not to come here.” “Vancouver is a much nicer option for the Pan-American Games”, he concluded. Miller also intends to push firearms businesses out of Toronto, driving hundreds of people out of work. What’s next? Does Miller intend to regulate the homes of ordinary hunters and firearms owners too? Miller has repeatedly ignored facts and statistics presented by the federal government. “Effective gun control means targeting criminals, and the criminal misuse of firearms, not Olympic competitors or the collectors of historic firearms” said Federal Minister of Public Safety, Stockwell Day For more information please contact: Tony Bernardo, Canadian Institute for Legislative Action (905) 571-2150 Larry Whitmore, Canadian Shooting Sports Association (905) 265-0692
