Thanks Obama. Thanks Kerry.

Guess which pile of unmarked cash Iran is using to build up its military...

Back when the Obama administration was doing the full court press in support of its Iran nuclear "deal," we were told that, sure, some of the money would fund terrorism, but most of it would go into Iran’s economy. We knew this, because that’s what the trustworthy folks running Iran told us. As former Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken put it...
“We know. We’ve seen it. We see what they’re saying. We see how they are spending it and what they’ve told us. But also what we see is that instead of going to the military, the money is being poured back into the economy because this is an economy that was suffering terribly.
...We can’t say that not one single dollar will go there. What we can say based on what we’ve seen so far is that virtually all of it is going into the economy, not the military."

Leaner, meaner, more aggressive, offense-capable fighting force

You were, and are, an idiot if you believed that. As I wrote at the time: "It's really just common sense. They're a state sponsor of terrorism - the slaughter of innocents designed to instil fear - and we sent them $1.7 Billion. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how that scenario is going to play out." Well - surprise, surprise. We now know that Iran is indeed using all that cash to build its military into a leaner, meaner, more aggressive, offense-capable fighting force. From the Free Beacon:

Iran's defense budget had increased by 145 percent under President Hassan Rouhani

Iran is using the billions in cash resources provided under the landmark nuclear deal to engage in an unprecedented military buildup meant to transform the Islamic Republic's fighting force into an "offensive" juggernaut, according to a largely unreported announcement by Iranian military leaders that has sparked concern among U.S. national security insiders and sources on Capitol Hill. Iranian officials announced late last month that Iran's defense budget had increased by 145 percent under President Hassan Rouhani and that the military is moving forward with a massive restructuring effort aimed at making it "a forward moving force," according to regional reports. Iranian leaders have stated since the Iran deal was enacted that they are using the massive amounts of cash released under the agreement to fund the purchase of new military equipment and other armaments. Iran also has pursued multi-million dollar arms deals with Russia since economic sanctions were nixed as part of the deal
Whoops! Why, it's almost as if someone in the previous White House wanted Iran to be able to do this. Perhaps as a phony way of balancing out Israel's strength in the region? They wouldn't do that, would they?
