We are not talking about the imagined action of an overrated Santa Claus here. After the UN denounced President Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Capital of Israel the Trump administration has negotiated big cuts to the UN's budget. Trump is not known for bluffing and he is actually taking the names of those countries who voted against his decision on Jerusalem. The UN has readily taken millions in aid money from U.S. taxpayers over many years.
The Americans have the "power of the purse" and are fed up with the anti-semitic, corrupt and inefficient bureacracy the UN has become. According to some reports, UN spending will be reduced more than $285 million in 2018 and 2019. U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley told the nations gathered "We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world's largest contribution to the United Nations and we will remember it when so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit." The UN has a long history and undeniable history of Anti-Semitism going back to Israel's declaration of statehood in 1948. According to UN Watch, the UN General Assembly condemned Israel 20 times in 2016, compared to six condemnations for the rest of the world combined. The number of times Israel has been condemned by this organization for almost 70 years is astounding and totally disproportional when compared to the condemnations of any other country. Israeli and U.S. officials, along with the other supporters of Israel, have long accused the United Nations of bias against Israel. Sadly anti-Semitism is yet alive and well and clearly demonstrated around the world in ever increasing acts of physical aggression, destruction of property, destruction of monuments and even murders of Jewish people. For Christians and Jews around the world, Trump's historic decision is more than a radical change in American foreign policy. It was the right thing to do. Their prayer for centuries has been the prayer of the ancient great king David in Psalm 122. "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”
