Hillary doubles down - she's still pretty sure you're a 'basket of deplorables'

No one thinks Hillary's "basket of deplorables" line was a good idea. ...Literally no one. Even her closest allies and aides can see that it was a huge mistake. For a candidate who already had immense difficulty generating any excitement, it was a message to necessary voters that she didn't want them on board. They were, after all, "irredeemable" people and she was taking a moral stand against them. Unfortunately, they represented roughly half the country.
Outside New York and California, Hillary was already widely despised. Instead of trying to win people over, she chose to insult them - secure in the false-confidence that came with polls showing her election was in the bag. So, does she regret calling Trump voters "a basket of deplorables?" Not in the least. According to Hillary, Trump was and is deplorable, he acted in deplorable ways, and everyone who voted for him is deplorable for ignoring it:
“Well, I thought Trump was behaving in a deplorable manner. I thought a lot of his appeals to voters were deplorable. I thought his behavior as we saw on the “Access Hollywood” tape was deplorable. And there were a large number of people who didn’t care. It did not matter to them. And he turned out to be a very effective reality TV star.”
Hillary made the comments during her book-related interview with Jane Pauley. The host reminded her that attacking the very voters she needed to woo only energized the opposing team.
“You fed into that though. When you said ‘basket of deplorables’, you energized”

Hillary cut her off.
“They were already energized.”
On this last point, she's correct. Trump already had momentum that Hillary simply could never generate. He had it in the primaries, too. However, that doesn't mean it's a good idea to insult half the voting population Unless *ahem* you're an arrogant ego-maniac and you're 100% certain you've already won, you should be trying to draw supporters away from your opponent. There's simply no question that the "deplorables" line added fuel to a rapidly growing fire. Either Hillary is genuinely incapable of understanding that, or she doesn't want to admit it and this is just part of her blame-shifting. Whatever the real reason, if you voted for Trump, Hillary is still willing to tell you that you're deplorable. The out-of-touch video appears below.
