Driver’s license Si, Legal no!

Illegals account for 40% of 2015 driver's licenses issued in California

Last January, the left-wing mecca known as California implemented Assembly Bill 60, which allowed illegal aliens to apply for driver's licenses in the state. Conservatives argued that it would further legitimize an army of people who were already gaming the immigration system. Liberals, as always, responded by mocking those concerns. If you were against the bill, you were some kind of paranoid delusional who'd created an elaborate fantasy about an imaginary legion of border-crossers who salivated at the thought of using our roads. This group of people, the left argued, either didn't exist or was at best microscopic.
Apparently, "microscopic" now means "around 40% of the total." As the International Business Times reports:
A new law in California allowing for undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses went into effect last January, prompting an influx of applications. Under the new law, 605,000 undocumented residents received licenses, accounting for 40 percent of all of the licenses issued last year. Exceeding expectations, even more attempted to obtain a license: Around 830,000 undocumented immigrants have applied for a license since Jan. 2, 2015, the first day of the new policy at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The licenses are similar to the standard driver's license except they say "Federal Limits Apply" on the back.
As you might expect, this influx has created bottlenecks in the system and necessitated an expansion of the state's capabilities. As Fox Latino reports:

Before the law was implemented, the California DMV hired 1,000 temporary employees, opened four additional processing centers and extended hours of operation to include Saturdays.
Before a liberal tells you about how this has "created jobs," you should know that it didn't work. Despite, the new employees and longer hours, the system is still a mess.
“It certainly overloads the system,” Ann Coil, Santa Ana Tea Party Patriots coordinator, told the Orange County Register recently. “And, again, we’re giving priority to people who aren’t citizens.” ...some have complained that under the bill, many applicants have had to wait longer to get an appointment. And even with an appointment, they have to wait in long lines.
So, to sum up, California has: legitimized people who've entered the country illegally while diminishing the services offered to actual citizens, all in an effort to appease a group of people who shouldn't be here in the first place. Even for a gang of West Coast moonbats, that's impressive. Anyone care to guess how long it will be before they demand more taxes to further fund their overworked DMV?
