Gentle revolution for Liberty and the rule of Constitutional Law

Is Freedom Just Another Word?

"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free..." - Me and Bobby McGee, Kris Kristofferson So it was depicted as Janis Joplin wailed out these bluesy words to this despondent tune back in 1969 at the height of the Vietnam War. I recall it well. But is it true? Is freedom really "nothing left to lose, and nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free?"
The Small Wars Journal Article: "Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A Vision of the Future,"by Kevin Benson and Jennifer Weber was brought to my attention by a friend. She was [and is] very concerned about the current mindset of current military leadership, in particular the senior officers in our Armed Forces. After reading this article, I too admit that I was shocked, annoyed, angry, and found myself in awful wonderment, “What were they thinking?" This is Broken Hope and Misguided Change if ever there was! But then, I read the comments to the article. Thank Goodness for the sanguinity and common sense of the American Patriot. Many of the comments were short and to the point, some more drawn out. All were elegant. I do not recall reading one comment favorable to this very scary article. With all due respect to their achievements, Dr. Kevin Benson ["PhD" first, "Colonel" second in his Bio] and Doctor Jennifer Weber [PhD] certainly betray a certain political bias and an outlook different than 99% of the officers I ever knew. I will over-graciously extend the benefit of the doubt as to why even the discussion of such an assault on the Constitution and laws such as Posse Comitatus would even be contemplated ... in any vision of operations in the Homeland!

I assured my friend that all warrior brethren, have taken an Oath to the Constitution and not to any Political Party, any Partisan Commander-in-Chief, or any of the Cabinet Secretaries. We are taught from DAY ONE to obey the lawful orders of our superiors. We take that oath seriously. We are bound to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. Creating a "Notional Enemy" out of the Tea Party is a heresy to my way of thinking. Do we really have folks teaching our senior Captains and young Field Grade Officers at Fort Leavenworth such a poisonous doctrine? Are we seeing the deconstruction of our Armed Forces from deadly foe to the enemies of America, and the increasing drive, by not a few, to transform them into an international and domestic constabulary enemies? This is a pressing question. Those who would even contemplate such madness against the Sovereign Citizens of the United States should be in line for a thorough Psychiatric evaluation with consequences ... of the kind NOT given to Major Nidal Hassan. To these "politically inclined officers" I would advise, "Leave the Profession of Arms and go into the realm of politics. There, you will find all of the skullduggery, back-stabbing, and compromises [notional and real] to American Liberty that you need ever see and experience." The real menace to our society is not the Constitution-loving Tea Party, the NRA, the Catholic Church, the Baptists, or the Evangelical movement. The real menace to American Freedom are those would would attack the Sovereignty first of the "various States" and then of the "Sovereign Individual." Once those safeguards are subordinated to an out-of-control and lawless Federal Leviathan, then freedom is doomed. My friend, and fellow member of the Long Grey Line, James Atticus Bowden, is fond of saying that the eventual spiritual re-awakening in America and the Restoration of the obedience to our Constitution will happen when we remember our foundations as a [once] predominantly Christian Nation and that this gentle revolution will be lead by what he terms an "ABC Coalition" [Assembly-Baptist-Catholic].

Victory comes when we go on the offense

The Tea Party is not a group of religious crackpots. They are good solid people. They have jobs, they are Grandparents, most go to Church, they are educated, and they are from all races and ethnicities. Only a blighted and propagandistic view by the Left ever portrays them as otherwise. If you have not been to a Tea Party Rally, go to one. The worst danger to all who love Liberty is that we roll up into a defensive redoubt to fight this twilight battle for Freedom. The Besiegers almost always win. The Defenders almost always lose. Victory comes when we go on the offense. Tacticians, Strategists, Leaders and Philosophers from Sun Tse to Vince Lombardi knows that Victory requires Offense and Resolve. So when you see this kind of stuff, take it for what it is. Read the article, then read the comments below the article. Do a bit of research and then join up. Become an activist in the Lord's work in this gentle revolution for Liberty and the rule of Constitutional Law. We are still the freest nation in the world, but that freedom is under assault. Freedom isn't free ... Use it and Defend it, or Lose it.
