Lautenberg’s Gun Ban For 8-YR-OLD CUB SCOUT Terrorist

Senator Lautenberg (D-NJ) will SEVERELY VIOLATE your Second Amendment right to bear arms through a fallacious bill called the PROTECT Act. The PROTECT Act seeks to extend the preservation of records for gun sales for longer periods of time and ban gun sales to individuals on the FBI's controversial terror watch list. Currently, records of gun sales are preserved for 24 hours then are destroyed by the FBI.

Lautenberg's bill does not PROTECT us. It puts us in DANGER. The terrorist watch list is a highly secretive list. No one knows who is on the list or what someone would have to do to get on the list. People can land on for no particular reason. Mikey Hicks, an 8-year-old Cub Scout from New Jersey is currently on the terrorism watch list! THE FACT THAT AN INNOCENT 8-YEAR-OLD CUB SCOUT WAS LABELED A THREAT TO OUR COUNTRY IS AN OUTRAGE! Hicks recently tried to board a plane with his mother and his name came up as a "threat to national security" on the terrorist watch list. The young Cub Scout was then subjected to a series of humiliating security pat downs and an intense questioning. Imagine how terrifying that experience would be for a child. Now, imagine if that was your child or grandchild. Turns out the boy shared the same name as another individual on the terror watch list. Mikey Hicks is not a unique name. If a 12-year-old boy's rights can be taken away because he was mistakenly on the terrorist watch list imagine how effective this list is at screening potential terrorists. IF A HARMLESS CHILD IS ON THE TERRORIST WATCH LIST HOW MANY OTHER LAW ABIDING AMERICANS AND CHILDREN ARE ON THIS LIST? Over 1 million people are currently on the terrorist watch list. Lautenberg's bill seeks to ban gun sales to those on the terrorist watch list. It is appalling to think that a regular American seeking to purchase a gun to protect his or her loved ones or go hunting could be blocked from purchasing a firearm because somehow their name is erroneously on the terrorist watch list. If a terrorist intends to obtain a gun do you think they are going to legally purchase the firearm? Of course not. Last time I checked terrorists obtain firearms ILLEGALLY. If a terrorist wants to use a firearm to commit a vicious atrocity in our country don't you think the terrorist knows their name is on that list? Of course.
