Left in complete meltdown over Trump EPA choice Myron Ebell

If you want to understand why the left goes so bonkers when they lose presidential elections, you have to recognize one thing: The left's god is government, and they believe government exists to serve their agenda regardless of who wins elections. They think the Education Department exists to look out for the interests of teachers' unions, for example, which is why they're beside themselves that Donald Trump has chosen reformer Betsy DeVos to be Secretary of Education.
And if there's one federal agency that the left believes it owns more than any other, it's the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA's mission, as the left sees it, is to battle every form of capitalism, especially those involving the extraction and production of fossil fuels. The fact that a Republican is elected president makes no difference at all. It is simply not acceptable to have anyone running the EPA who does not embrace that ideology. So they're in a complete meltdown over Trump's choice of Myron Bell for his EPA transition team - a choice that's got them panicking Trump might choose Bell as EPA administrator. Indeed he might, and that's inspired some pretty crazy behavior:
Mr. Ebell is a whip-smart policy wonk at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He has spent years at the epicenter of conservative efforts to combat backward environmental regulations. His appointment to manage Mr. Trump’s EPA transition team was an inspired and encouraging surprise. On the left it provoked a complete meltdown. Environmental groups whipped up tens of thousands of petition signatures demanding Mr. Trump ditch the “climate denier.” Students at Georgetown and Harvard demonstrated against the appointment. There’s even an online hashtag: #RebelAgainstEbell.

Lifting environmental burdens is (along with tax reform) where conservatives see the most sweeping upside for growth. Talk to Mr. Trump’s economic advisers: They understand that the advent of fracking and new drilling techniques—the ability to tap untold reserves of oil and gas—represents a global paradigm shift that can reset America’s economy and foreign dealings. President Obama’s willful decision to ignore this was as if Bill Clinton had opted the country out of the internet revolution. Mr. Trump gets that. The early audacity of his thinking, as represented by Mr. Ebell, has inspired the right, even as it has incensed the left. For years Republicans have been running scared on the environment, cringing under attacks from activists, constantly seeking to look “green” and play down their energy ambitions. Not so Mr. Trump, the first Republican president in the modern era who seems willing to turn the formula on its head and adopt a position in keeping with other energy-rich nations. The Norways and Canadas of the world embrace their energy abundance and make it an economic priority, even as they also take steps to protect air and water quality. That appears to be the Trump approach.
It remains to be seen whether Trump appoints Ebell as EPA administrator, but one thing we can already tell from Trump's general approach is that he does not buy the conventional wisdom that certain agencies and departments are the exclusive domain of the left. And he does not appear afraid of attacks from liberals and their media allies if he doesn't play ball.

Trump proved what we've been trying to say to Republican politicians forever: When you stand up to these people instead of cowering and giving them what they want, their threats are revealed as completely hollow

In that respect, the Democrat/media approach to defeating Trump in the campaign may prove to be their policy undoing. They came at Trump unlike anything we've ever seen, attacking him as every conceivable evil under the sun. And he beat them anyway. So why should anyone think he will be intimidated by the same tactics once he actually becomes president? If anything, Trump proved what we've been trying to say to Republican politicians forever: When you stand up to these people instead of cowering and giving them what they want, their threats are revealed as completely hollow. So environmental activists can go bonkers and beam pictures onto buildings all they want. Trump doesn't appear to care, and neither should anyone else. Their histrionics are completely without any substance or force behind them. It's just crazy people having a meltdown, which shouldn't even cause Trump to slow down a little in his pursuit of solutions for the nation's problems.
