It's your fault. You and your expectations.

McConnell frustrated by 'do-nothing' label, thinks Trump has 'unreasonable expectations' about the pace of legislation

They had 8 years. 8 years. Almost a decade. 8 freaking years. They had all that time to put together an acceptable ObamaCare repeal bill. In fact, they voted to repeal the law over forty times. However, when the day came that a Republican President was in the White House - someone who would actually have signed any one of those 40+ attempts - they had nothing ready. They squabbled, bickered, delayed, bickered some more, complained, squabbled, and ultimately failed to get the job done.
That failure - more than anything else - has created the idea that a do-nothing Congress has refused to keep its "signature promise." Now, Mitch McConnell is whining about the "extremely irritating" perception that he's done nothing. He's also complaining about what he calls President Trump's "excessive expectations" when it comes to the pace of congressional legislation. Yes, really. McConnell made the remarks during a Rotary Club event on Monday:
"I won't ask for a show of hands, but I know everybody's saying we've 'been there, haven't done anything.' ...Which I find extremely irritating. ...A Congress goes on for two years. And part of the reason I think that the storyline is that we haven't done much is because, in part, the president and others have set these early timelines about things need to be done by a certain point. Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before, and I think had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the Democratic process. And so, part of the reason I think people feel like we're underperforming is because ...too many kind of artificial deadlines - unrelated to the reality of the complexity of legislating - may not have been fully understood."

So, if you think Congress has failed in its primary mission for 2017, it's not Mitch McConnell's fault. It's your fault and the President's fault. If you hadn't had such lofty expectations - after 8 years of campaign promises and hollow votes - you wouldn't be so upset. Just... unbelievable. 8 YEARS!
