-- BombThrowers With less than two weeks before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office, liberal movie and TV stars were determined to use the 74th annual Golden Globes awards ceremony on Sunday to have the last word. Tens of millions of Americans tune in to show every year for a good time, but this year they were subjected to the ravings of Meryl Streep, a crazed left-wing Hillary Clinton supporter (she spoke at the Democratic National Convention last summer) who just would not shut up.
This award-winning person who pretends to be other people for a living gave herself a pat on the back among her fellow super wealthy colleagues while scolding the rest of the country for electing Trump. The three-time Oscar-winner began her lifetime award acceptance speech by insinuating that Trump and the 63 million Americans spread throughout 3,084 of the nation’s 3,141 counties or county equivalents who cast their ballots for him are bigots whose hostile attitude toward foreigners and immigrants has resulted in Hollywood becoming the most “vilified” segment of society. “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners,” she said. “And if we kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.” Trump, of course, never compared called for the deportation of foreigners in his proposals to remedy rampant Illegal immigration, but the distinction between the two is irrelevant to the narrative of progressives who want to convince the world that conservatives are all “white supremacists.” Trump’s mocking of disabled New York Times reporter Serge F. Kovaleski, Streep said, was the “performance” that most “stunned” her. “It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good. There was nothing good about it. But it was effective and it did its job. It made its intended audience laugh and show their teeth,” Streep said.

“It kind of broke my heart when I saw it, and I still can’t get it out my head because it wasn’t in a movie, it was in real life. That instinct to humiliate when it’s modeled by someone in a public platform, it filters down into everyone’s life because it gives permission for others to do the same.” “Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence,” she said. “When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.” Streep challenged the media to hold Trump accountable and called on Hollywood to support the Committee to Protect Journalists. “We need the principled press to hold power to account, to call them on the carpet for every outrage. That’s why our founders enshrined the press and its freedoms in our Constitution,” she said. “So I only ask the famously well-heeled Hollywood Foreign Press and all of us in our community to join me in supporting the Committee To Protect Journalists.” “Take your broken heart, make it into art,” Streep said in conclusion, quoting the recently departed actress Carrie Fisher. These self-important left-wing elitists love to get together and congratulate each other for their supposed moral courage. After watching Streep’s speech in their $10,000 tuxedos and $20,000 dresses, the richest, most privileged people in American society praised Streep on social media, for trashing Trump and acknowledging their dreadful victimhood:

Trump has supported charities that assist paralyzed veterans and children with epilepsy. He once even sent his own plane to transport a child with a rare pulmonary disorder from Los Angeles to New York to get medical help. In light of all the talk about “morality,” you would think Streep and her Hollywood associates would have refrained from giving Roman Polanski — who was convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977 and fled the country before sentencing — a standing ovation when he won the Best Director Oscar for The Pianist in 2003. Ironically, leftists like Barbra Streisand (see a previous Bombthrowers post) are disgusted with Trump for supposedly making fun of the reporter, but are indifferent about a disabled man being tortured and almost murdered by four black thugs a week ago in Chicago for the crime of being white and allegedly a Trump supporter. Streep has a gate-secured home in Los Angeles, a 90-acre spread in Connecticut, and multiple residences including a penthouse in Manhattan. She doesn’t have to worry about Rust Belt job losses, terrorist bombings on mass transit, or robbery. Still, she believes it her duty, as a favor to us deplorables, to lecture us on how to vote and how to feel indebted to Hollywood for entertainment and instructing us how to conduct our lives. No thanks. Actors may make us laugh or cry. But they need to realize that the only words of theirs that matter are scripted.
