Duane, I have known you for decades, man. You are a very intelligent, astute, personable and political guy. History will show that your party nominated and the country elected the wrong guy for the last eight years.
If you had been president, your party would be in a hell of a lot better shape than it is now. Because the Democratic party is in tatters. And potentially facing eight long years as a marginalized, leaderless and fractionalized party. From the presidency, down ballot to the Congress and then further down to the state governorships and the state legislature level.
Because your party had as its president, the most over-rated and incompetent Democratic leader in decades. Thanks to Obama/Hillary, this recent election has shown that your party has become the party of exclusivity, Hollywood chic/Wall Street money, ignorance, intolerance, divisiveness, political correctness, elitism, snobbery, condescension, illiberalism, hate, BDS anti-Semitism, violence and complacency.
Thanks to the venal Hillary your party has also become the party of mainstream press collusion, political dirty tricks, corruption, perjury, bribery, cheating, influence-peddling, treason, money-laundering and criminality.
Let us not forget that while Obama, as president, was playing golf with his Wall Street buds and chillin with Jay Z/Beyonce, his oh so hip/cool Hollywood celeb friends+kibitzing with Fallon on late night, his Democratic party lost 11 Senate seats, 60 House seats, 14 Governor seats and 900 state legislature seats!!!
There are now 33 Republican governors. That is the largest number since 1922.
As we all know, 2016 was the year, the GOP was most vulnerable for losing the majority in the Senate.
Because in 2018, 25 Democratic Senate seats are up for re-election, while only 8 GOP Senate seats.
And Duane, my friend, you could bet your sweet Bippy, that the fired up Trump/Pence- led+united Republicans are
gunning for Bernie Sanders’ seat in Vermont and the vulnerable Democratic senators in now red state Democratic Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Also the GOP want the lightweight Tim Kaine’s old Senate seat in 2018.
If Sanders had any cojones, (which he clearly does not, or he would not have caved to the indictable/lying Hillary who rigged the primaries against him) he should lead a revolution out of the Democratic party and throw his support behind a reinvigorated Green Party. Now that would be really interesting.
My prediction for 2017. The Democrats and the clueless mainstream press (Wash Post, NY Times, CNN, The New Yorker, ) will have learned nothing from Trump crushing Hillary and her presidential dreams.
They will continue to snipe at the GOP’s sexism and racism, while Americans will turn further away from the failing Democrats. And Trump and the GOP will continue to make inroads in the Democratic blue states and the collapsing Obama coalition of African-Americans and Latinos.
Welcome to Trump Nation. Eight More Years. And of course, under a Trump presidency, we will Make America Great Again.
