In another one of their ill-conceived ideas, Obama and his Mid-East Envoy, George J. Mitchell, are advocating that Palestine and Israel peacefully co-exist as two legitimate nations. Israeli Prime Minister Ben Netanyahu rejected the proposal, according to writer Isabel Kershner, in her article, "Israel: Netanyahu Demands Palestinian Recognition" (dated April 16th 2009).

PM Netanyahu is wise for consistently rejecting such a stupid and unrealistic proposal.  Palestinian terrorists and thier terror-sympathizers do not want peaceful coexistence with Israel, nor do they want to recognize Israel as a legitimate Jewish state.  This is demonstrated by the past actions of Palestinian terrorists.  If you look at the Oslo peace accords and the on-again/off-again war strategies of Hizballah and Hamas terrorists, one common plan becomes obvious.  Terrorists use the plan of attacking Israeli civilians and destroying their towns.  Then peace talks occur in which Israel is pressured to give up it's self-defense war against the terrorist scum.  During those talks, terrorists then take advantage of the lull in fighting to regroup, consolidate their forces, draw up plans for the next terror attack on Israel's women and children, and use political maneuvering to gain concessions from the Israeli government.  Then, the next terror attack occurs in which terrorists destroy more of Israel, while seeking to gain more land from Israel during the next peace negotiations.  Because this is the preferred strategy of Palestinian terrorists, Israel must not let the current peace talks push them into recognizing Palestine as a legitimate state.  Granting such recognition to Palestine only rewards terrorism and enables Palestinian fanatics to gain yet another concession from Israel, while planning future attacks on Israel.  In other words, recognizing Palestine as a legitimate state plays into the above terrorist strategy for victimizing Israel.  Obama and his envoy George Mitchell are either incredibly ignorant of this strategy at the least or they are dishonest about it at the worst.     Ben Netanyahu is making a wise and righteous decision to remain uncompromising with Palestine and the terrorists that influence it.  In order to maintain this moral high-ground, Israelis (and Americans) must beware of Palestinians who might one day make a pretense at recognizing Israel as a legitimate state in return for being regarding the same way.  We must be weary of this future position from Palestine since such pretense fits right into the "out-fight them, out-negotiate them" terrorist plan.  Instead, terrorism must be eradicated from Palestine, Iran, and Lebanon.      The only way to resolve this impasse between Israel and Palestine is to consistently hold Palestine accountable for its terrorism against Israel.  The free world must tell Palestine they are "not getting anything" through terrorism.  If Palestinian terrorists attack Israel in the future, then the free world must stand with Israel in opposing the terrorists and weaken Palestine's long-term will to use more terrorism.     Also, helping Israel eradicate the terror mongers inside and outside of Palestine is very important in permenantly stopping the occasional terror attacks on Israel.  The free world must accept that Israeli soldiers are not blameworthy of civilian deaths during wartime if terrorists use civilians as human shields to counter Israeli fire.  Accepting that about Israel will increase the moral clarity nations will need to more strongly support Israel against terrorism.  Obama and Mitchell must overcome their stupidity or dishonesty and help Israel neutralize Palestine's attempts at terrorism.      As a post script to this issue, some people argue that, in the past, Israelis moved into Palestinian land unfairly with Palestinians not liking it.  True or not, once irrational Palestinians bring terrorism into the picture, their claims lose credibility and lose the respect of consideration from rational people who know terrorism is an evil method of resolution.      Only time will tell how Israel will permenantly overcome the Palestinian terrorists.
