Attention: Prime minister and Opposition Leaders; Stephen Harper, Conservatives Ste'phane Dion, Liberals Jack Layton, NDP Gilles Duceppe, Bloc Quebecois Dear Honourable members: The election was just carried out and the people have made their choice. This is no time to blow another 300+ million on an unnecessary election, are you crazy?

We are in tough economic times and we have to cut back on spending throughout. Our people are making huge sacrifices, suffering without jobs, income etc. and we have to be prepared in the event it could get a whole lot worse. Canada so far, is maybe only slightly in a better position than many others however this could change. As we are highly reliant on the American economy, we have to be patient, cautious and wait to see how their new administration reacts before we commit to risking any big deficit spending. We have to be realistic, the Canadian government cannot magically create a new healthy economy, by bailouts and throwing our hard earned tax-dollars around at every latest whim. Our politicians (regardless of party) have to lead the way by setting an example, show that they are mature, responsible, unselfish and willing to give up some of their pork and perks. What in the hell were us taxpayers doing paying a subsidy of $1.75 per year for each vote in the first place? Let the individual parties solicit their own campaign funds, not get it off the backs of us taxpayers. This 28 million alone could go a long way to help the unemployed instead of in the political parties pockets. Grow-up Dion, Layton and Duceppe, cut the reprehensible selfish conduct! We don't want to see our politicians acting like a bunch of spoiled partisan crybabies everytime they perceive some budget cutback might affect their party more than someone else's as it's all coming out of the same taxpayer pie. You are supposed to be representing the people who are hurting and are having to make major cutbacks on their household budgets regardless of whether it affects one family member more than the other, so quit whining. The fact is we are going to have to make huge major cutbacks throughout all ministries and the entire bureacracy, so wise up. Jack Layton is throwing a tantrum, trying to panick everyone into giving away the farm, over-acting like a small time political carnival huckster flapping his arms around to get attention in trying to gain a few love starved brownie points. Get a life Layton. Gilles Duceppe and the Bloc (who ran no candidates outside of Quebec) does not legitimately represent any part of Canada except Quebec and should not be in a position of power over the rest of Canada. There is no way the Governor General could allow this to happen. It's time to act responsibly, shelf the partisan politics, work together and do major cut backs on unnecessary spending throughout. Yours Truly Roland Seguin Langley, BC rolandseguin@shaw.ca
