Promises of lower taxes, decreased spending and balancing the books are not going to cut it. It’s NOT the economy, stupid!

Note to the CPC leadership candidates: It’s NOT the economy, stupid!

“It’s the economy, stupid!” The slogan, a variation of “the economy, stupid” coined by Democratic strategist political strategist James Carville worked well during the 1992 presidential election campaign. It helped Bill Clinton defeat incumbent George H.W. Bush who was seen as out of touch with the problems of ordinary people. In the early 1990s, the United States was hit with a mild recession and the economy was instrumental in making Bush Senior a one-term president. There is no doubt that Canada’s present economy is in bad shape thanks to the free-wheeling spending of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Trudeau campaigned on the promise of balancing the books by 2018 and running a surplus the following year. Earlier this year, Trudeau’s own finance department revealed the budget will not be balanced until the early 2050s. Apparently budgets do not balance themselves as Trudeau once claimed. Many of us Canadians will never live to see another budget even being close to being balanced.

Trudeau, known in China as Little Potato and in the White House as just plain “Joe Trudeau"

Trudeau, known in China as Little Potato and in the White House as just plain “Joe Trudeau,” has spent billions since coming to office in late 2015. Most of this money has been spent overseas including at least $385 million to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada. Other monies have been given to third-world countries whose citizens are lucky if they ever benefit from Trudeau’s largesse. And the middle-aged kid has poured millions into the UN and UN agencies. Despite constantly saying how he is helping the middle class, he couldn’t care less about them or other non-elite Canadians. While money is no object to house his beloved refugees, the fact we have thousands of homeless in Canada, including military vets, does not seem to faze him. Trudeau’s main goal is to obtain a seat for Canada on the UN Security Council and Canadians can just go to hell. The Conservative Party of Canada is currently holding a leadership race to replace Stephen Harper who resigned shortly after the Liberal win and a new leader will be chosen by the party faithful on May 27. There are currently 14 candidates vying for the position and hoping to be the next prime minister of Canada. MP Kellie Leitch distinguished herself from the outset of the race by declaring not only should all new immigrants to Canada be given face-to-face interviews but they should be vetted to ensure these newcomers hold “Canadian values.” Canadian values are defined as not being anti-women, anti-gay, anti-Christian and anti-Semitic.

But Junior, like buddy Barack Hussein Obama, is fundamentally transforming Canada

Apparently insisting newcomers to Canada have tolerance for different sexual orientations, religions and cultures was too much to ask. Leitch was immediately pounced on for her politically incorrect views, not only by the left but by members of her own CPC party, including some fellow candidates. Leitch and her supporters have been labelled “the fringe” despite the fact a recent poll found one in four Canadians agree with President Trump’s ban on Syrian refugees. Some fringe. In the olden days a lot of the 14 candidates would have dropped out by now, having realized they have no chance to win.. But we are living in a post-Trumpian era where anyone who is told they cannot possibly win a political campaign simply laugh and say that’s what they said about Trump. Of course they all can’t be Donald Trump. Early on in the race, Leitch made the point that she is concerned with Canadian values and the future of the country while all her other fellow candidates are simply arguing they are the best ones to fix the economy. She was right although recent events, such as the debate on the Islamaphobia motion, has gotten the other candidates away from speaking only about the economy. Some however, had to be dragged into discussing these issues. Yes, Trudeau is ruining the Canadian economy with his uncontrolled spending, mostly in foreign countries. And he is getting a lot of help from his friends like Alberta premier Rachel Notley and Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne. But Junior, like buddy Barack Hussein Obama, is fundamentally transforming Canada. He has said the country does not have a core identity. According to him, we have no mainstream and he views the country he governs as the world’s first post-national state. He is intent in destroying our history and our culture.

Trudeau plays favourites; if he is not giving special status to Muslims, he is definitely giving the impression he is

Trudeau plays favourites; if he is not giving special status to Muslims, he is definitely giving the impression he is. In Trudeau’s world, Canadian citizens are less important that Syrian refugees. There is no doubt the total nature of the country will be fundamentally transformed if he remains in power long enough. The economy, as bad as it gets, can always been fixed. Prudent fiscal management can turn things around and the books can be balanced under more responsible leadership. But changing the very nature of what Canada has always been will not so easily be remedied. It is a given that any of the CPC leadership candidates could put Canada’s economy back on track. But that should not be a priority right now. We need a government that will fight to retain the history and culture that made Canada what it is. We need to keep the country that members of the military fought and died for. We need to keep those values that make us Canadians. Promises of lower taxes, decreased spending and balancing the books are not going to cut it. It’s NOT the economy, stupid!
