Atlanta businessman Bob Preyss sees the crucial time period between November 1 and 6 as America coming in on a wing and a prayer.
Like the hopeful during World War 11, Preyss counts most on the lyrics:
“...Comin’ in on a wing and a prayer
Comin’ in on a wing and a prayer
With our full crew on board
And our trust in the Lord
We’re comin’ in on a wing and a prayer”.
Like millions trying to find their way out of the dark that is covering America, the father of three “great children” and grandfather of three is concerned about the vulnerability and future of America, Israel and the West.
One day while posting a comment onlline at Lucianne.com about the outrage of the day, he posited “Where must ‘this’ be taking us?”
“I believe I had in mind that we might be past the tipping point and also that we are somehow being deluded, sleeping through not amateurism, but the banality of evil,” he said.
“To that comment, I strangely added, “I expect someone to organize a day of prayer and fasting for forgiveness and restoration on November 1.”
On the weekend that followed Preyss prayed and then began writing what he calls “5 Foundations”—really talking points for a Day of Prayer.”
It’s not as if Preyss thought his quest for prayer would become a full scale mission for so many others.
“If you knew me,” he says, you would know I’m not that guy.”
Little did he know that the 2012 election had already created a “that guy” category turning to prayer more than ever before.
With the help of Mary Jane Tyler, a friend he still hasn’t met, he sent his “5 Foundations” to 200 media outlets, churches, synagogues, congressmen and friends—worldwide.
When Canada Free Press (CFP) wrote about the Preyss Prayer Quest on September 22, Preyss, travelling on business for his company E-BuilderServe,. LLC, missed the post.
The Sept. 22 CFP story was sent to him by R. Lee Ermey.
“Somehow R. Lee Ermey found it. Is he a friend?” Preyss wrote CFP.
When I wrote Preyss back saying I didn’t know R.Lee Ermey, this is what he wrote back.
“R. Lee Ermey is a real life drill instructor who played the role of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in the movie Full Metal Jacket. He hosted two programs on the History Channel and a cable TV show about guns.
“You wouldn’t have seen the GEICO insurance commercial where he played a tough psychiatrist dealing with a namby pamby patient he calls a “jackwagon”.
“Perfect tough guy military voice and look. Very recognizable here in the USA.”
Finding the lovably irascible R. Lee Ermey on YouTube, I was mighty impressed.
You can add to R. Lee Ermey’s many attributes that he’s one of those guys who believes in the power of prayer.
Preyss is asking for people to fast and pray for America starting on November 1st and continuing through November 6 Election Day.
That’s when he and scores of hopeful Americans will be Coming In on a Wing and a Prayer.
