What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

Oh my: Four arrested when fight breaks out at Berkeley 'empathy tent'

I would say this is ironic, but that's only true if don't recognize the Orwellian nature of the language being used. Just as Antifa is about the most Fascist organization around, most campus "peace activists" are generally at war with just about everyone who doesn't see the world the way they do. Empathy is supposed to mean you can identify with the experience or perspective of another person, either because you've been there or because you are able to put yourself in their shoes in some way. Sounds like that went a bit sideways here:
I suppose the left-wingers will blame the presence of the Trump supporters for the trouble, although one of the people arrested was a leading left-wing activist involved with the "peace" efforts. I suppose the left-wingers will say the police arrested her unjustly. Whatever. The point is that when these people talk about promoting "empathy" or "understanding" or whatever, they's rarely what they really mean. Ususally they intend to point the finger at others and accuse them of not possessing these traits. Then when some of these people show up, trouble ensues. Berkeley is the place where they can't have conservative speakers because they're afraid of riots, and where an "empathy tent" becomes the spark for a fight and arrests. These poor liberal students want to be peaceful, but people keep triggering them! Maybe someone needs to teach them some empathy. Oh wait. That didn't work so well.
