Steadfast and Loyal Coach Buzz Williams, regardless of the outcome of the game, YOU Sir, are a doggone winner — and so are your players!

Players disrespect National Anthem; Coach gives them HARD CORE lesson

It’s one of the great times of the year, the annual sports spectacle we know as “March Madness,” the culmination of the NCAA college basketball season. We all know about the Cinderella for whom we all fall in love. We fill out our brackets and grimace in despair when that certain upset comes that ruins our bracketology. Right now the conference tournaments are underway, some already have punched their ticket to the Big Dance, like Yale, who hasn’t been to the NCAA tournament since 1962.

But I came across a video that will leave an indelible mark on me as I watch the festivities of this season. It shows Virginia Tech head basketball coach Buzz Williams instilling a little true court discipline in his players. Now, the ACC tournament begins in Washington DC this week, and I don’t know if the Hokies of Virginia Tech will win, but after watching this video, I will certainly cheer them on. As reported by Inspiremore.com, “Basketball Coach Buzz Williams of Virginia Tech was disappointed with the overall state of respect among college basketball players. He had noticed for years that most college players would not pay attention during the National Anthem. As we’ve all seen, some do stand in full respect. But many don’t: they sway along with the music, others look down at the floor, others even goof off and pay no attention. And we’ve all been there. Williams realized what was lacking was the reverent attitude due to those who fought for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Something we all need reminding of.” Watch this video and if it doesn’t touch your heart, then you have no heart…certainly not for America. Coach Williams said, “I wanted the players to understand how fortunate they were to be able to play this great game, to earn a scholarship, and to have people pay money to watch them play. Everything comes at a cost and each and every one of us is fortunate that someone else, in someway, is sacrificing something so we can go about our every day lives.” More...
