Pope Francis Goes Digital on Global Warming

On digital video, where celebrities, politicians and popes can best fool the masses, Pope Francis is calling on mankind to stop man-made global warming and to walk more gently on what he sanctimoniously calls “our Common Home”. With not a single mention to Whom they’ll be praying, Pope Francis is asking people around the world to pray--during the month of February--”for an increase of attention to and care for our common home.”
If global warming/climate change is as threatening as he and President Barack Obama claim it to be, surpassing even Islamic terrorism, then it will take more than a month of prayers to stop it from wiping humanity out. But God only knows how many of the flock naively buy into papal messages when they are sent out by video. “The Holy Father is making the request through his new video initiative in cooperation with the Jesuit-operated Apostleship of Prayer. Below, please find the full text of the Holy Father's Message, which you can view at thepopevideo.org/. According to the pontiff, who had environmental activist nuns out on the road singing and praying over billboards during the Iowa caucuses, it is global warming/climate change that is making the world’s poor poorer.

“The relationship between poverty and the fragility of the planet requires another way of managing the economy and measuring progress, conceiving a new way of living. Because we need a change that unites us all. Free from the slavery of consumerism,” the pontiff says in his new Pope Video. “This month I make a special request: That we may take good care of creation–a gift freely given–cultivating and protecting it for future generations. Caring for our common home.”
But the Pope in person is distinctively different than the one he plays on digital. At the Jose Marti international airport on February 12, Pope Francis will make a stop on his way to Mexico, to meet up with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, and according to the Patriarchate of Moscow, “all Russia”, with Raul Castro acting as host (AmericaMagazine, feb. 5, 2016) The Patriarch of Moscow doesn’t do nearly as well on digital as the Bishop of Rome: “The Russian public was outraged when he was seen wearing a $30,000 watch in a photograph published in 2012. In a failed attempt to hide the timepiece, the Russian Orthodox Church photoshopped it from his wrist, but overlooked its reflection in the shiny table surface below. Embarrassingly, they restored the original photo after being caught by bloggers. (Mashable, Feb. 6, 2016)
Kirill is also rumored to own a pricey country mansion and a massive yacht. Photographers captured him boarding the vessel last year. The esteem in which Pope Francis holds Patriarch Kirill is a far cry from lukewarm. “Francis said last November that he had told Kirill: "I'll go wherever you want. You call me and I'll go." (Mashable) If an end to the almost thousand-year-old schism between the Catholic and Russian Orthodox church were in sight, it would be worth the going whenever he was called. But that’s not likely to happen: “The two are not likely to fully reconcile the churches' differences, as that would require major concessions from both sides. Metropolitan Illarion, foreign policy chief of the Russian Orthodox Church, told reporters Friday that one major disagreement between the Holy See and the Russian Church is over various Orthodox churches in western Ukraine, The Associated Press reported.” (Mashable) Among his many titles, Pope Francis who has thrown in with Obama in declaring that global warming/climate change is mankind’s biggest threat, and as the pontiff who will go wherever Patriarch Kirill wants--even if it’s at the Cuba airport--should be added ‘Francis the Follower’.
