Protests scheduled for the Bundy Trial in Nevada

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Cliven Bundy et al vs United States of America (Las Vegas, NV. Judge Navarro presiding.) Here are the courtroom violations that the defendants are enduring: Visibilty of the US Constitution has been denied in this federal courtroom. The only way it is allowed is if it’s turned backwards inside observers’ pockets.
Defendant Todd Engel has been denied his right to represent himself because he asked an FBI agent on the stand if head BLM agent Dan Love was under investigation for misconduct. Judge Navarro has denied the right of the defense to call these witnesses. We have a constitutionally-protected right to face our accusers but FBI Agent Adam Nixon testified that he had obtained a warrant to search FBI-informant Greg Burleson’s Facebook page, and that he went through the information. FBI agent Adam Nixon neglected to mention that he was Greg Burleson’s handler. Greg Burleson was the only ‘defendant’ who had spoken of violence. Violence was never in line with our protest, and in fact shocked us when the videos were revealed in court. Had we heard his these words from him while we were protecting our property and cattle, we would have immediately escorted him from our property. It was not yet publicly-known that Greg Burleson was an FBI informant until FBI agent Michael Caputo took the stand. At that time Greg Burleson’s attorney emerged to question him about his work as an informant. Mr. Burleson’s last phone call to FBI agent Michael Caputo was immediately after he had been interviewed by the FBI’s phony documentary company (going by the name of Longbow Productions). No other defense attorneys were allowed to cross-examine FBI agent Michael Caputo, for example to get information about Greg Burleson’s payments from the FBI as an informant. Nevada TV news Channel 8 reported on Greg Burleson’s violent videos, yet left out the fact that he was a planted FBI informant. They also neglected to report on the other defendants’ peaceable interviews with the phony FBI news crew going by the name of Longbow Productions. Instead they only focused on informant Greg Burleson’s violent videos, maintaining the charade that he was a close member or friend of the family. We believe that this biased reporting will unfairly taint or prejudice the jury pool for the next 2 trials coming this year for the rest of the defendants.

We believe we have a right to call witnesses in our own defense. Yet we have been denied nearly every witness we attempted to call. On the first day set for the defense to call witnesses, not a single one was allowed to take the stand. Witnesses willing to testify have been threatened with arrest because prosecutors claim this is an ongoing conspiracy, indicating they may indict more people at any time. During the 7 weeks since the prosecution took the stand, our defense has not able to start the day with even one approved witness. Family members who were eye witnesses, including wives of some of the defendants, have been denied the right to testify for the defense on the basis of being ‘unprofessional or lay or political’ witnesses. Defense witnesses are not allowed to discuss the fact that cows had been shot by federal agents, which was the main motivation for people coming to the aid of the Bundy family in the first place. Defense witnesses cannot speak of Ammon Bundy being tazered, or about Dave Bundy being arrested on the road for simply recording the activities, or about Margaret Houston being thrown violently to the ground by law enforcement. Defense witnesses cannot speak about how afraid they were of the agents, or about anything that would ‘pull on the hearts strings of the jury,’ according to Judge Navarro.

Defense witnesses cannot speak of anything political or religious nor can they bring up anything that can risk Jury Nullification, according to Judge Navarro. At one point Judge Navarro objected against the defense, telling them they would not be allowed to state why they were objecting, as it was 'disrupting the court'. Judge Navarro declared that the defense would have to only motion with their hand to show that they wanted to object. Then Judge Navarro stated that she would wait until the prosecution was done presenting their case before making a ruling. She states that the jury is 'educated enough to know to dismiss the information if she sustains defense objections'. This is NOT how an objection works! This jury has been completed tainted. Even though defendants have a constitutional right not to testify against themselves, defendant Eric Parker has agreed to testify because if he does not, there may not be anyone to speak on behalf of the defense. Most of the prosecution’s witnesses are federal agents, and are allowed to observe in the courtroom before they take the stand. But potential witnesses for the defense have been restricted from observing the trial before taking the stand. Witnesses for the prosecution have been allowed to speak of their fears, and shed tears on the stand, yet witnesses for the defense are instructed by Judge Navarro that they must not 'do or say anything that would make the jury feel badly for them'. The prosecution was allowed to take the stand for 7 weeks, yet the defense is not allowed to even begin day 1 without being shut down, and is now being told they will rest within 5 days.

The prosecution has been allowed to present evidence from before April 12, 2014, yet the defense cannot do the same. The prosecution has been allowed to present witnesses who were never present at Bunkerville, yet the defense is being told even eyewitnesses are not qualified to testify because they are ‘Lay Witnesses’. Judge Navarro has prohibited defendants from discussing the US Constitution or the Nevada Constitution, which is relevant to the ‘right to carry,’ because, according to her this could cause jury nullification.
