Spanish Inquisition redux: accept climate change or else

For all the democrat grumbling about making sure there are no religious litmus tests for cabinet candidates, the committee hearings for Donald Trump's nominees are rife with them. Candidates sitting before members of Congress are subject to a single mantra coming from democrats--"do you accept and believe that climate change is real and your job, first and foremost, is to combat this threat to the world?" All right, so this is paraphrasing the badgering of democrat senators from the hapless Jeff Merkley to the obtuse Kamala Harris, but it puts in plain language what they think is the greatest global peril. Not ISIS and other murderous terrorists, not Russia (except in how it supposedly "hacked" the election), not China in its takeover of major shipping lanes in the South China Sea, not North Korea in its flagrant ICBM-building, not Ebola, Zika or other viruses, and certainly not Iran which Obama outfitted with everything it needs for nukes. Nope. Because, in their minds, all these dangers are caused by climate change.
If only this were not so, but the blinders have been super-glued to the temples of just about every democrat in government and not a few republicans. And by pressuring each and every nominee sitting before the Judiciary, Foreign Affairs, Armed Services and other committees ad infinitum, into making some mollifying statement regarding climate change, the left is instituting the new Spanish Inquisition. Their steadfast belief in the religion of man-made climate change that is, oh so obviously, destroying the earth, is unparalleled in modern American politics. At least the "red scare" of the 1950s had some basis in reality despite how McCarthyism of the time dealt with it. But this is a new era. Policy discussions have turned into religion baiting. According to socialist, democrat or progressive (choose your adjective) office holders, anyone who isn't completely on-board with their faith in anthropogenic climate change is a "denier" who should be tied to the rack, flogged with a cat o' nine tails or submerged in oil (the medieval form of water boarding). All this while calling Islam a religion to be protected; Christianity a religion to be persecuted; and inferring Jews a people to be wiped off the face of the earth. This is how the democrats are doubling-down on climate change as the greatest threat to the United States: Recant or be cast out. We have seen it this last week with freshman California Senator Kamala Harris (Barbara Boxer's protégé) who made herself a fool while questioning Trump's pick for CIA director, Rep. Mike Pompeo, about climate change. She, like her cadre, has fallen for an unproven theorem as the greatest danger to the United States, let alone the world at large. In her inane query she invoked John Brennan, currently holding the post, as a proponent for climate change being a cause of "rising instability" in the world, using NASA as her fallback. Evidently, Harris hasn't read the NASA findings in that so-called climate change hasn't been attributed to man so much as the natural workings of our solar system.

Unfortunately, the unseemly wish to pin all the world's woes on a nebulous villain sent the confirmation hearing so far into "left" field that it was difficult to grasp what Harris really thinks is the mission of the Central Intelligence Agency. Gathering "intelligence" obviously is not among her choices of the agency's purpose, but promoting social redesign is, as Harris hounded Pompeo to accede to the current administration's absurd beliefs concerning climate and the ever-popular gay marriage. Harris is not the only democrat lawmaker or liberal member of the judiciary working overtime to keep President Obama's off-kilter legacy of political correctness alive at the expense of national security. Secretary of State nominee, Rex Tillerson, came under similar fire as democrat committee members attempted to forward soon-to-exit President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry's delusional concept that climate change is the ultimate global menace. Pushing every button to discredit Tillerson, ExxonMobil's former head, the corporation is being forced by a Massachusetts court to release internal documents relating to the company's climate change policy. They want to know what ExxonMobil "knew" about climate change. This is purely pressure tactics to make EM concede this hoax is real or be punished financially for sticking to facts, which counter the existence of man-made climate change. This kind of coercion stems from the erroneous SCOTUS ruling of 2007 (Massachusetts v. EPA) that CO2 is a "greenhouse gas" that causes global warming. Keep in mind that this opinion was made by the judiciary with sham scientific "facts," not by scientists. It was solely a political ruling that set the stage for deconstructing the oil, gas and coal industry and has been applied to that effect with abandon.

Add to the list of browbeating senators Bernie Sanders trying to buffalo Rep. Ryan Zinke, nominee for Interior Secretary, into acknowledging the vital peril of climate change. Not one of the cabinet picks will be immune to the intimidation of these zealots. The hearings are just the beginning of democrats doing everything in their power (which they are clutching by their fingernails to retain) to forestall the rebuilding of America in the Founders' image. After decades of calling indoctrination "education," the younger generations have little sense to combat the arrogant concept that man can possibly destroy what God has made. Climate change is just the latest vehicle by which authoritarians (which describes many in public office) can maintain a grip on the government over which the People are determined to reassert their rightful control. Congress must be urged to confirm these nominees for incoming President Trump's cabinet. They won't readily release the control they believe they deserve, nor will they walk back their commitment to a religious conviction they call climate change. It's time for the Inquisition to end.
