Thanksgiving 2012: struggling with the “happy” thing

Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving… Hmmm–I thought, this year, if I practiced saying it, it might get easier, but I’m not going to lie–the “happy” part is difficult. I’m not happy with my country at the moment, and I don’t suspect that in the future, I’m going to be breaking into a Snoopy Dance.
This whole “fundamental transformation” business, it turns out, was real, and as we recently affirmed, it’s breaking out like measles... Call them Obamabots, O-zombies, the Walking Dead or liberals, the bottom-line is that many who voted for an additional four years of lies and demagoguery are either too disengaged or too dense to comprehend their actions and the consequences, thereof.
Indeed, when exit polls show a 15 percentage point gap between George Bush and Barack Obama as to “who is more responsible for the economy” – Bush 53%, Obama 38% – then, HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM. ’Twas the Dems who protected Fannie Mae from oversight, and Fannie Mae that precipitated the sub-prime implosion.

No matter!  Any guess as to the percentage of co-eds who can spell “Barney Frank” (snark alert!), let alone explain capitalism?  These people re-upped for misery – chronic unemployment, massive debt, onerous regulation – because educators long ago bagged the “Rs” – reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic – for the socially progressive curriculum of gender ID shuffleboard, carbon credits, and America-is-stolen-property.  Thus, free condoms push aside moral conscience protections faster than Barry can scream, “I built that!”   Ignorance is so pervasive these days that bouncing between rants against Hollywood, the media, the teachers unions, and public pensions has become a full time job–check that, “hobby”; don’t tell Hilda Solis!
Who’s Hilda Solis?  Obama’s labor secretary, a position that underscores the uselessness of bureaucrats whose raison d’être  is uselessness.  There’s a lot of anxiety, post-election, regarding a second-term, and it permeates the cybersphere.  From my e-mail:
Greg, are you ready for what’s coming?  A year’s supply of food, I’m thinking.  Also, firewood. This is going to get ugly, when it goes.  My heart aches for our nation, I mourn for our kids. But we must be prepared and never give up.
I wrote back: Yes, I mourn... I fear that, between immigration, education, the media, and the breakdown of the family, we’ve forever lost the anchors that made us a free people.  I will never stop fighting – they will have to kill me – but there are so many Americans either too apathetic to care, or too stupid to comprehend it, that I believe that we’re headed for a very dark time.

I have more.   I sense a coming “Potterville,” that bleak and barren land from It’s a Wonderful Life–real social Darwinism as opposed to the version in which freedom breaks out and millions of people, predicted to die horribly, become productive citizens.
Potterville is Dem country, for if people have jobs, stable families, and a firm moral anchor, it hurts “progressives.”  Democrats, in order to win elections, must create dependency, familial breakdown, unhappiness, and moral strife.  The happier the American people, the more religious and God-fearing, the greater the likelihood that Democrats will lose power.  Misery is the Democrats’ ally, and this is what they plan to create.
I wrote this on Facebook and it got 1000 likes.  I try to say positive, but amidst pale optimism, gloom is omnipresent.  There is hope.
Exempli gratia: ”My brother who has always been conservative explained to me when I was a raging liberal: “You are voting with feelings and ‘what ifs’ instead of facts and logic.”  And now, after years of therapy, I can tell you, he was right.  I can also tell you that Michael Savage is correct–liberalism is a MENTAL DISORDER… It really is.  Nothing else explains how, after therapy, I emerged as a critical thinker… Why?  Because I learned to examine and process FACTS.  Instead of wondering ‘what if’ and fantasizing about DESIRED outcomes in lieu of LIKELY outcomes, I discovered REALITY.  Liberals choose to pass the buck onto others–to people whom they “trust” to make society “better.”  But these people have no such intention–the trust is BLIND.  No one is more intellectually lazy than the liberal ‘in a cage.’  Liberals don’t question consensus, because they would rather be ‘accepted’ than correct in thought.  Few liberals know WHY they hold an opinion–they simply hold it… If the opinion, figuratively, were a stick of dynamite, they, in their blindness, would call it a banana, and AFTER it exploded, the surviving liberals would insist that ‘not all bananas blow up.’”
~Julie, an ex-liberal   This was posted on Facebook, and the response was like a family reunion.  Several people reported crying.  We were happy….  for awhile.
