Transgender people, as if such a thing existed, will not be among our fighting forces

Trump: Boy or girl . . . you can join the military; all others need not apply

Alternate headline: Media upset as president makes substantive policy decision to distract from what they prefer to talk about. This is a reversal of a 2016 Obama decision, the implementation of which had already been delayed six months at the request of Secretary of Defense James Mattis. It's official now: Those of the "transgender" persuasion will not be permitted to join the military. And as has become standard with this presidency, it's made official via Twitter:
In case you were wondering, yes, Trump has the full authority as commander in chief to make this decision - which is not to say activists won't run to some left-wing federal judge looking to have it overturned, and quite possibly find at least temporary success in their effort. But the logic is hard to argue with. Society can't seem to deal with the notion of transgenderism in schools or at Target. Why does the U.S. military need to be getting distracted by these same issues when its mission is to destroy enemies and repel threats? This was fine for Obama because he didn't care about that mission, and was far more concerned with pursuing his left-wing social agenda. Trump actually takes the role of commander in chief seriously, and letting in people who can't figure out what gender they are is not consistent with that seriousness. There is also this: You may not want to hear it, but there is no such thing as a transgender person. The entire notion is ridiculous. You're either a man or a woman and that is determined solely by the genetalia and chromosomes with which you were born. If you think you're something other than what you obviously are, you have a psychological disorder and the U.S. military does not need you around. You neeed to get help, not go to war. Those who know if they're boys are girls can defend the country just fine on their own. I realize that statement will upset some people but I'm getting very tired of pretending that insane nonsense is not insane nonsense, and apparently the Pentagon feels the same. Good. And if President Trump wants to distract us from other things, doing so with wise policy decisions like this would be the way to go.
