Trump, CPAC, almost punked by lefties

Saboteurs from a shady left-wing nonprofit were foiled in an attempt to make President Trump look like a puppet of Russian President Vladimir Putin on live television. The botched prank took place Friday morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) where Trump was scheduled to address attendees. Ryan Clayton of Americans Take Action Inc. handed out small Russian flags emblazoned with the word “TRUMP” to the audience at the Gaylord Hotel in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C.

Clever piece of political performance art

The idea behind this clever piece of political performance art was to get audience members waving the little Russian flags while the cameras were rolling. The Russian flag, like the American, is red, white, and blue and most in the mass gathering of non-vexillologists didn’t realize they were being punked. The news footage of an enthusiastic crowd of conservatives cheering on Trump while waving Russian flags would likely have gone viral, possibly reinforcing the Left’s false narrative that Trump is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s biggest fan.

Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky definitely would have approved of this mischievous political warfare

Rules for Radicals author Saul Alinsky definitely would have approved of this mischievous political warfare. But someone noticed that the flags were Russian and CPAC staffers promptly collected them from the audience before the prank could succeed. Americans Take Action Inc. is a Baltimore-based 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. None of its mandatory IRS filings appear in the GuideStar database so it’s unclear how the group is funded. For all we know Americans Take Action Inc. is funded by Vladimir Putin himself. If the group ever gets around to complying with the law and filing its IRS paperwork maybe we’ll get a clearer picture about it.
