Trump opts out of next debate, so Fox cancels it

Earlier today, Donald Trump announced that he wasn't going to participate in the next GOP debate, which was scheduled to take place in Salt Lake City next week. Trump told Fox News "I think we've had enough debates," and would instead be "making a major speech in front of a very important group of people."

Reaction to this was split. If you like Trump, you think that he doesn't need to debate anymore. He just came off a series of major wins, and another night at the podium does nothing but give his detractors an opportunity to attack. If you can't stand Trump, you think he was afraid to face Ted Cruz in a one-on-one situation. Ok, fine; A one-on-one situation with John Kasich standing nearby, complaining about the fact that he isn't being asked any questions. Either way, once Trump announced he was out, you were probably filled with dread. No one wants sit around for two hours watching Kasich and Cruz go back-and-forth. "No one," apparently, includes John Kasich who said he wasn't interested in being part of two Trumpless hours of broadcast Sominex. That left only Cruz willing to show up, so.... Frankly, I'd call this a win for Trump. It's hard to see how he loses anything by killing the event and it's cancellation serves as further evidence that he's the big cheese of the 2016 cycle. People can say he bowed out because he's terrified of Cruz, but what does it matter? If the attacks haven't worked yet...
